| A buddy of mine from Scarborough Maine came down Saturday he was interested in a SXS he asked lot questions about my Maverick and Commander so I told him my two cents , of course I said get a Can AM , so Fast Eddie asked to take ride I told him CanAm was one of best built machines out there ,and had hardly any problems with mind ,so we took off riding I was riding down the road and got up to 74 MPH road few trails and headed back I was riding the Maverick going up hill I hit 72 MPH and all of sudden all hell broke loose ,I heard a loud clanging noise ass end went side ways blue smoke boiled out from behind the machine i looked like Bobby D the day his motor blew up then I heard the belt started shreading I almost wrecked the damn thing !! Finally I got stopped and had to be towed ,I've never started a topic but I knew I had to tell everyone that a Can Am does have problems too but just not as much as the rest of them !!! I'm trying to get belt cover off as of now . I hope clutch did not explode ,as soon as the cover comes off ,I'll post the what it looks like , oh by the way Fast Eddie laughed his ass out towing me in and said he thought he would just stick to snow Mobiling !!!!!! | |

| That really sucks!! Hope the damage is minimal. And yes they all have problems no matter the brand! I have been on about 7000 miles worth of group rides and I have seen more issues from machines not named Polaris. With that being said both my RZR's have left me stranded one time for each, so it happens!! Good luck!! | |

| Can Am atvs problems: fuel pumps, power steering issues, premature brake wear on G1 frames, bent trailing arms from the factory causing broken axles, blown rear differentials, leaky seals, running in limp mode caused by electrical failures, premature U-joint failure. I don't think the side by sides are as bad. Can Am makes an awesome piece and very highly engineered....BUT THEY have PROBLEMS too. I have a RZR thats been flipped over twice and has had the crap run out of it. For having 3500 miles on it, it has held up very well. Just a few ball joints and a few a arm bushings here and there. I have both brands (atvs) and they have their pros and cons. Its amazes how people qualify something as a piece of junk(Polaris) just because they just had to replace one little $40 part such as a wheel bearing, tie rod end, bushing etc. Hell if it had a flat tire, they would call it a piece of crap. The days of Honda type reliability are long gone. These new bikes have way too much fancy electronic junk on it to last forever. Not trying to point my opinion at any of yall. Im just saying | |

| They probably won't warranty the belt, maybe the cover. It depends on your dealer. The belt is easily changed and the cover can be fixed. I fixed mine with fiberglass cloth and resin, then I put rubberized undercoating on both sides of the repair, has held up great. Make sure you or the dealer cleans out the cvt exhaust it will be plugged with belt parts and if not cleaned out your new belt will blow in a hurry. I'm running a gates c-12 belt for the maverick in my commander and it is holding up good, you can find it online for $75 | |

| When you get it fixed make sure you follow the proper belt break in procedures. Most don't and wind up smoking there belts as soon as they get them. | |

| I put a OEM used belt on and epoxied the cover took out the primary clutch and secondary and cleaned it real good installed every thing back ,actually it was easer than changing the oil , then the snow came I rode over 80'miles Wednesday & Thrusday and had no problems at all, I ordered a new gasket a new cover and a belt got it all in today at Honda of WS they really do a good job up there , so I'm going take everything back out Saturday and install the new stuff back in , it's really not too much to ask for.A years worth of riding well almost a year and 250.00 later !!!!!!!! | |

| I almost forgot the Warranty they did not cover any of the cost .company's has everything figured out it's the little stuff that breaks and dollars you to death and big ticket items that are covered by warranty rarely breaks ! So I really don think that most warranties are worth the paper there written on that's my two cents worth !!!!!! | |
