| One never knows who we will meet on the ATV Trails. A group of us were riding the Wilderness Trails Off-road Park near Middlesboro, KY this past weekend and while there this man and his wife came riding up on his Commander. He is kind of like me, never met a stranger and loves to stop and talk. One of the riders in the group said he recognized him as "Rascal" from the Back Yard Oil TV Show.
I have his picture, but not sure about posting that type of photo on here. He is a very likeable fellow rider. There is rumors that the oil wells on his small property has made him worth many millions $$. He told us the story of finding the oil on his land and it was one with an obvious happy ending. Maybe an admin can tell me if I can post the picture or not...MD

| You often mention tv programs I have never heard of. I guess it's because all I ever watch is old movies and sports! :) | |

| Timmi, I didn't have a clue who he was. I had never seen the that TV program either. I wouldn't have even made the post if he was a hot shot, he was an average Joe, just like most of us here. That was a time when the saying, never judge a book by its cover was certainly true...MD | |

| I work the environmental end of the wells in the Marcellus and Utica in the PA, WV, and OH areas. On a daily basis I visit "family land" where wells are drilled. The people who own this land are NOT Beverley Hillbillies who "flash" their new found wealth.
They buy a new John Deere, they fix up their barn, they put a new roof on their house, they provide college funds for their grand children, etc. They are all good hearted folk who just appreciate that they are not going to have to put their legacy land up for auction to pay the tax man.
Thanks to all these folk who are helping provide domestic fuel to help our economy and stopping the need to make "political provisions" to accept foreign derived fuel.
This is my view of it....

| I was doing some research on the wells on his property. The wells are only 25-30 feet deep with no indication of how much or how long the sweet oil is available.
His demeanor was just like a lot of us on here and who would-a-thunk he had so much wealth...MD

| bstouffer, I have spent some time in Hagerstown, I have been a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy over in Emmitsburg for over 15 years. Some of the classes takes us on a field trip to the Childrens safety village on Mt Etna Road close to the new Hospital addition. A few of the names of folks from the Hagerstown FD I know are Mike Weller (retired), Deanna Glaze-Pelton, and one named Sam that works at the CSV.
Just thought I would make the world just a little smaller by speaking and showing the ties to your town...MD
