| Been thinking about buying me a atv lately. I had a 700 Kawasaki before my sxs and I really liked it lots of power and was the best wheeling bike I ever rode. Was looking at the new Brute Forces but not sure about any of the other atvs in the market now days. Let hear yalls opinion on what is best and why. I'm not brand loyal but do want 700 cc or up. I like the torque of a Vtwin too. And also where I'd the best place to buy (cheapest).
AND GO.......... | |

| I had a 07 700 grizzly for several years before it got stolen last summer and it was bullet proof, eps with diff loc as well. I used it hunting, fishing on the coast and riding in Wv. It never let me down and I really like it a lot for everything did with it. I've had a couple friends that had Kawa's well and they liked them as well. | |

| I'm not a Brute fan since they have always had belt and other issues. I view Grizzly's as dangerous -- in the ATV club I ride in we've had some terrible injuries on Grizzly's. The injuries were riders with experience that did not have the issues on Honda's or Can-ams. The Griz's are just too tippy. If you ride mostly flat the Griz's are fine. If you like hardcore exploring they are unpredictable. I've got one friend with a 700 just sitting since he decided after three rides it was not safe (he own a Rincon now).
If you really want power my choice is Can-am Outlander 1000. Nice ATV's with incredible Rotax power. I've had several can-am's and enjoy the ride. The 800 or even 650 is more powerful than a Brute and more fun too...
With that said I will take a Honda Rincon as many places just as fast. The Rincon is more stable, lighter, and takes a beating with little repairs. I sold mine 14 months ago and regret it. I like my SxS but can't beat a Rincon for go anywhere fun. The power is mediocre but the overall package is great.
Just my $.02... after 14,000+ miles on ATV's in 5 years.

I really hate that happened. I still look all the time for yours or parts of it. I regret selling my '07 Grizzly, it was the best atv I ever owned. With the most comfortable seat made and the eps I could ride all day and not get tired. It handled like a 350 2wd, light, quick, and stable wherever I went. And as you say, absolutely the best cvt/4wd system available.

| For power, look at the Can Am or the new Polaris 850 or 1000. I too, had a couple Grizzly's back some years ago & they where bullet broof. I miss mine as well. Just my opinion. | |

| You know what I am going to say. If you want a reliable machine buy that top dog honda. Will be good for years. If I had to buy an ATV today I of course would buy a can am. I love rotax power and the ride was awesome and smooth. I love that outlander class. |

| I purchased new the Kawasaki Prairie 650 and rode it hard for 2 winter riding seasons (Oct-April) and sold it with almost 4,000 miles on it. I then bought a new Can Am 800 Outlander and rode it for 2 winter riding seasons and sold it with 3,840 miles on it before we switched to cars (SXS). The difference in the ride, handling and R&M (repair and maintenance) cost were drastically different.
The Outlander in my humble opinion is the leader in the (4x4) ATV market in regards to comfort, handling and usable horsepower. This is only based on the type of riding we did, high speed trail riding.
Another consideration is due to consumer education and forum's like these, manufacturers can no longer get away with bringing to market a sub-standard product due to consumer backlash via word of mouth i.e., forums like this one. Just about all ATV Manufacturers have really invested in their R&D Department to bring to market the best ATV products for their "target consumer". That being said, it's really up to the rider's type of riding they do, personal preference and what he/she has the most confidence in.
Good luck with your decision and hope to see that new bike on the trail someday.

| Great post. My riding experience is not the most challenging, but I do enjoy trail riding in the woods. I have always enjoyed the tight woods trails. Some of the wheelers handle better than others and some are a softer ride than others. The heavier wheelers like the Polaris 850 and 800's tend to be the softer riding and the lighter ones like the Grizzlies, IMHO tend to be the most agile. The Grizzly experience is understood only by those who have lived the Grizzly. There are others who have their favorites. I will agree that the earlier Grizzlies had the "tippy" feel to them. A good rider friend of mine says the new 550 and 700's are now redesigned and spread out just enough to help in that tippy feeling. Having said that, if I was going to buy one today, it would be one of the new designed Grizzlies. BUT, the Honda's, the new Polaris 570, the C/A Outlanders, Kawi's Brutes, and Suziki's Kings have a lot to offer to the individual that is looking for that special ride that will make them proud to be the ir owner. Which ever you select, ride safe...MD | |

| Glad to see another forum member with a SxS that still likes their ATV. I currently own a Rincon with low hours and miles. The machine is great, but it's under 700cc. Hondas have the rep for reliability and quality. I'm a believer too, but my Rincon did once leave me trail side with a fuel pump relay that was bugging out.
If I were going to buy new today it would be between an Outlander and a Sportsman. Between the two, I'd ultimately choose the Sportsman... likely the 850 because I'd probably kill myself on the 1000 XP. Why the Polaris over the Can Am? Only because my go-to dealer doesn't have Can Am. Have fun - I love my SxS, but I don't ever plan to fully give up my ATV.

| one thing no body has hit on is 4 wheel drive .Those that go in 4 wheel drive sitting still and those that have to have wheels rolling .when you get stuck in 2 wheel drive is not the time to find out if 4 wheel drive works .just remembering the old days | |

I had a bbk on my 700, no stroker or cdi and sadly, no JBS sheave. It would run with with anything on the trails except an xp or gade.
