| I'd like to find someone that can make a good aluminum or some good other material 4 seater roof for my Rhino. I know a 4 x 8 sheet of Alum Diamond plate is only $140 so I should be able to get a good Diamond Plate Roof for $250. Maybe more for some extra braces. Basically it seems that it would be just a couple of bends and cuts to the sheet of diamond plate. The cage I have does not tilt so the roof would be one straight run with a front and rear bend. Then again maybe what I have is OK but a full roof seems cooler.... | |

| Find us a deal Mark. We can probably do a bulk deal by getting Mr Jones in it also. The last time I priced a sheet of diamond plate it was $145. | |

| I will send James a pm about it, that shop his family has should be able to do some. I think I would like mine broken in half so I can still tilt the bed.
Funny, Mark and I talked about this last night.

| I think I would like mine broken in half so I can still tilt the bed.WTF?? Your cage has nothing to do with bed tilt.... Remember??? That's why you purchased the Rockhard cage. http://www.tellico4x4.com/product_info.php/cPath/3442_3589/products_id/28680 I was thinking of James also. I don't think he has a break/cutter for the diamond plate but he knows someone that does. I'm pretty sure it would just be a matter of giving measurements we want along with angles. Should be easy but need to think about it since trial and error is expensive. | |

Actually you are supposed to drink and post -- YOU ARE A MOD!!!
Take some measurements sometime and we'll see what James can do or recommend. Maybe Mark will come through with a good metal fab'r also. Should be fairly easy for the Rhino. Now that big Ranger of Mark's may be another story...

| I would be willing to drop mine off for whoever to build from, then just have them make 2. One thing I want for sure is it bent over the front and a drip rail bent in to it. I hate it when the water drips off my roof onto my lap it's just annoying. | |

| Depending on how far down the line it is I might be interested as well. Still considering making mine a 4 seater. Depends on a few things....including Yamaha's new SxS....if and when they get around to releasing it. | |

| Matt, just make yours into a 4 seater then if something sportier comes out get it and keep the Rhino as a family ride. | |

That's probably what aluminum skid plates are aren't they.....or are they 3/8ths? I'd think 1/8th would be rigid enough wouldn't it?

I have thought about that. Not sure if I want to clear out enough room in my garage for 2 SxS's.

| 3/16" is probably good and common. 1/8" is common but thin. | |

| I'm thinking 1/8" to maybe 3/16". Like mentioned above I'm not sure how strong the 1/8" would be towards heavy branches. Most skids 1/4". Least they were on my sports quads. | |

| Richocet full skid plates and swing arm skid plates are made up from 3/16 inch (.190cm) thick 5052 aircraft aluminum. The key there is it's really strong aluminum. If Diamond plate is used the 1/8" would want to sag -- the 3/16" should be fine. I guess it's a matter of how many supports you want under the roof. | |

I was surfing around a little today and got on atvtv.com. Doug Meyer was talking about the spy photos many have seen on various websites of the new Yamaha SxS. He said to notice the large engine cowling between the seats. He pointed out the nice layout but said it looked to him like there was plenty of room for a larger engine. That's what I was thinking as well. Looks a lot wider than the current Rhino in the engine cowl. If they upgraded the power, I think it will be worth taking a close look at.

| You guys are talking my kinda stuff now. I have a fab shop. 1/8 diamond is plenty for a roof (what I have), problem with Rangers and Rhinos is the width, for a 4 seater, you have to get a 5'x8' sheet if you want it in one piece without a weld seam. I have been doing 2 seat Rhino roofs for $200 in 1/8". You can buy 1/16" on line for $150. Most skid pans are 3/16" flat. 1/8" Diamond is 3/16" on the diamonds, thus lighter but as strong. I'm not pushing a sale here, I would hook you guys up for cost. Not much labor involved. | |

| JB_Rhino I like your thoughts. So what are you thinking for the 4 seat Rhino roof using (1) 5 x 8 sheet of 1/8" diamond plate? | |

| Also, you dont have to worry about sag or bends, this stuff is strong. I stand on mine. | |

| Ok I measured my Rhino. The roll cage is 52" wide at the front and 55" wide at the rear. Length of the cage is 65" long. Looks like a 5 x 8 sheet would work. Would need a bend at the front and back with drip edges on each side. Not sure the best way to do that -- really need the Rhino there when it's made.
One thought is Daryl (Neuromax) and myself come up there sometime this summer and we make the roof's and then ride. Is there any good riding near Boone Co? Any good campgrounds? We normally ride the Hilltop/Pinnacle Creek area near Northfork WV.

| If you get me the exact measurements on length, I will have the front and rears bent at WV Steel when I order it an then cut the width when you get here and weld on a drip edge. If you want to clamp it on, then we will have to get some clamps, or we could bolt it on right through tabs on the cage.
And yes, we have lots of good riding here, 25 miles from Hatfiel & McCoy's Little Coal River Trail, local trails about 1 mile from my house. Camping at Kanawha State Forest about 10 miles from here, or "up a holler" locally. I live in Racine, WV 25165, about 20 minutes south of Charleston. Feel free to email me at jlbothwell@gmail.com.
My sister lives in Denver, NC on Lake Norman, thats a 4 hour trip.
