Looky what I found...

Decided to drop the skid plates and see how much mud ended up down there after riding with Bobbyd and Bush. I think they tried to drown me the first day, and they showed me a Rzr could be used as a boat too.

I could not believe how much mud was caught up there.... it was still wet too!

I noticed small areas of rust forming behind all of the mud.... I sprayed it all out, that was NOT a fun job.


Do you guys clean yours out regularily, or worry about the frame rusting due to all of the mud packed in there?

Let me know your thoughts..

I will normally drop the belly pan and do a thorough cleaning. That way I can check out the mechanicals or dints. Lots easier to PM or fix in the shop than on the trail .

Haven't drop mine yet, but with your information and the trip I just got back from it sounds like it's time to pull in and check.

I TRY TO CLEAN AFTER EVERY TRIP TO THE WAGON WHEEL. I DO NOT LIKE TO LET MY MACHINE SET WITH THE MUD & GRIT PACK ON & IN IT.

I usually on the rides, like to go cross a river and let it help wash some out. When I get home, I clean it up and run a hose underneath. As you work the hose around, the mud will come out. It takes a little while but it usually gets it all out. Just work the mud to the drains with the hose.

Well with close to 5,700 miles on my RZR now I have never dropped the skid plate to see what all is caught up in there.I guess I will just wait until the frame rots into 2 pieces and let the insurance company pay for it

I took it to the power washer at the car wash when I got home. I stuck the nozzle up under the skid plate, and thought I got it all out too..

Maybe its just because we did alot of water crossings, and some mud holes.. but it did not even come close to being clean.

Maybe its because I have the side skid plates it kept more in.. not sure..

But, I would check. Not sure if it would lead to damage..

Bobby D.. would insurance cover that?

I would def invest in a pressure washer. It's a must for this sport.

Be carefull with the pressure washer not to force water into the bearrings or tear the rubber boots

Oh that's right! I always run mine on low! Never full blast

I pressure wash mine after every long ride (pulling the seats and the access panel). Then jack it up, pull the wheels and grease it. Also try to shake everything, clean the pre-filters and wipe the filter can out.

Well I would think it would take a long time for that to happen and I would have a new one before it would get that far gone.I doubt insurance would cover that as I was just joking
