I had reservations about posting this link. If I had been there the last thing I would have done would have been running my camcorder. However I guess it may be a good reminder to drink in moderation if you must, while riding. And a big thanks to the rescue guys and gals!!!!!!!

I hope they recover and are able to make it back.
Accidents do happen though unfortunately.

While it is bad to video something like this...it is good for all of us to watch. Just another reminder of how easy a good day can turn bad.

| Thunter, is the"4's" part of "Long John"? Isn't that where we rode and then turned left at the top where this wreck happened? | |

| Rick it's close. The 4's is on the same right of way as Long john but they are about a mile apart. We actually went down the part these boys wrecked on. We did turn left there at the top of the other side and only went across the first half of the 4's. We need to hook up again and go riding!!! | |

| Hey everybody....thanks for watching the 5 points wreck video and the comments.... I am the one that made that video, I can explain why I videotaped it, and for what reason... We had been ridin and filmning all that day and were getting ready to leave when we heard there was a bad wreck on the Fours. Well we rushed down there, there was only one guy there helpin them and the two guys were in awful shape...me and 8 of my friends went, we had an RN and 2 CPN's with us and 2 first aid packs so we did first aid and helped them till more help arrived... when the fire dept's and EMT's got there (about an hour later) is when i started filiming, because they had took over at that point....when i started filming is when i walked up the hill to get my camera i had thrown out when we ran down the hill to the guys. My reason for making the video is to remind people not to drink, do drugs, and ride, and to stay in control. The guy in the video that wasnt in the ditch talked to us a little before he blacked out and told us they were goin way too fast and were shit-faced drunk. Their family also said they had been doin drugs when they got to the scene. I have been in contact with their families and they are appreciative for the video and keep me updated on their conditions. The boy in the ditch ended up having to have 2 brain surgeries and broke his neck. They were both lifeflighted. This was very horrific for me personally and I never want to see it again, i was hoping it would give a reality check to everyone that rides, and make them think before doing something stupid and think about the consequences. I wanted to send the message to stay in control when riding. We ride out there all the time and there is a bad wreck nearly every time. I figure they will shut it down before its all said and done, which sucks. Hope you all can understand. Thanks! | |

| Thanks Backwoods for the write up. I posted the link because I thought it was a good reminder for alot of us, myself included!!! I had reservations about posting the link at first but I thought you did a wonderful job making it. Hopefully something good can come from this. I was at the Wagon Wheel riding memorial day weekend but it's my understanding that 4 people were life flighted out of 5 Points that weekend and all of them were messed up on drugs or alcohol. | |

Gosh I wish those people would stop and ride smart. It causes nothing but problems |

| Sure hate to see this happen when it could be prevented with using good judgment. Hope the have a full recovery but from what was described in there injuries it sounds like they have a long road in front of them. Just glad if I read correctly that no innocent riders were involved or injured which is normally the case. | |

| I usually get alot of grief because I ride sober...at most a beer is all I will consume...because I like having my judgement to not be impaired....because I have ridden totally trashed once or twice before and I told myself never again...hope this was a lesson learned... A hard one |

| Stayed at Ashland this weekend and enjoyed the ride. Upsetting was that a guy that had just gotten out of the coast guard was riding on the paved road between stairsteps and Rosies and lost it and went over the side on his 4-weeler. Unfortunatey for his family he was killed. No helmet and intoxicated was what Rick said. My heart so goes out to his family. I will reconsider wearing a helmet all the time, and not just every now and them. | |

Except for the fact that when you are climbing a hill and get hurt no one is to blame but you and its highly unlikely you are gona hurt anyone but yourself. When you are drunk and cant decide what one of the three machines in front of you is the real one to avoid hitting and you pick the wrong one you hurt somone else for your selfishness. I dont enjoy beeing around people who are riding drunk I realy dont wana get hurt just so they can say they where having a good time riding with double vision. Now i have a 3 year old son with me and if you are drunk and hurt him you had better end up dead cause if I get my hands on ya you will be. You will change your tune when a drunk rider causes you some greif or injurs someone close to you.
