Has anyone every had this issue with an Extreme Recovery winch or any other brand when installing on the frame of the RZR.
The mounting bracket fits perfect, the winch mounts perfect to the mounting bracket, but the motor housing makes contact with the shock coil spring when the suspension is in the down position with the front wheels off the ground. I contacted Extreme Recovery customer service and this was their response:
We appreciate your purchase. We have been selling the package for the
RZR since 2008 and have never had a fitment issue with a stock RZR
setup. A few things we would recommend would be to make sure the mount
is installed per the instructions and you are installing to a stock RZR
without aftermarket alterations such as lifts or suspension alterations.
Double check fig. 2 in the instructions to ensure your install is the
same.
The two mounting angles are not the same and must be on the correct
sides.
You can also try turning the winch the opposite direction for install
with the motor on the opposite side. It runs the same either way.
Let us know if your RZR is stock and if you have everything installed
per the included instructions.
Thanks !!!
Xtreme Recovery
Here are the pics I sent them. Motor housing is clearly to long and interferes with the travel of the suspension no matter which side the motor is on. Every time the front end comes off the ground the spring will smack the housing.
Here is my response back to them:
Thanks for the fast response. This is being mounted on a stock 2010 RZR LE. I have double checked the instructions, fig 2 and mounting brackets and everything is correct. The mounting brackets will only go on one way correctly to mount the winch. The body of the winch motor makes contact with the coil spring when the suspension a-arm is not even fully extended in the down position when the front end is off the ground (see picture below). This will happen every time the front end leaves the ground on rough terrain or climbing over things. The body of the motor is to long no matter which side you put it on.
Not sure how anyone else has not had the same issue unless the motor casing is shorter on smaller winch models you sell. Are all the motor casings the same length no matter how many pound winch you buy?
Please call me to discuss.
