| I would just replace it.
If you have ANY trouble with a throttle cable then replace it. Its not expensive and you do not want it to break on the trail or hang up. Old cables can be dangerous. At the first sign of any trouble I replace mine. You will have alot less headaches. |

| Well if that's the case then try running penetrating lube through it. |

| You will be supprised just how much throttle you are missing after putting on the new cable , what is happening is it not freezing up , the cable is breaking inside and getting caught on the inside of the housing , it has probably been under water at some time and coroded and rusted and is now breaking and steaching .... I suggest skipping that ride , no amount of diesel or oil is going to fix it just prolong the time for it to break and leave you stranded or take you full throttle into a tree or off a cliff ... | |

| I agree with all that's been said so far. I would try to get that one more ride out of it because of your plans. Firepup is right, you may as well pay some attention to the shifter cable while you are at it. If it's giving you no trouble, go ahead and spray some PB Blaster down it, and then some type of oil like 3 in 1 or something that will get down in there. Both these cables are down low where all the muddy water can get in them. They make a fancy cable lube tool, but IDK how much one costs. My be worth the money though. | |

| Mine keep freezing up when the weather turned extremely cold. I would have to idle the RZR for about 1/2 -1 hour before it would free up. After 2 years (I only started it a couple of times during the winter) of this, I replaced it. | |

| I'd soak that throttle cable in WD-40 -- heck I'd do it on a new one if I rode creeks. I've waited an hour for a friend's rzr to thaw so he can control the throttle during cold weather. There has to be a way to keep those cables free of water....
My Rhino would do that on the choke cable only. Can't crank a Rhino in 0F temp if you can't pull the choke....

| WD 40 promote rust , its commonly called rust in a can , Liquid graphite is for cables ... Heavy oils hold dirt , Liquid graphite works like a polishing agent and a lube so all things move easy , Like sanding a piece of wood , no splinters , oil the same piece of wood no rot but you still get splinters .... | |

Hey James. Didn't you blast carb cleaner through it ,for icing? I'd try carb cleaner then dirt bike chain lube to free up a cable before replacing it.

| Welp I took my throttle cable out today ...put one end in a cup with a paint filter to catch and examine anything the shall come out...at the start of the reject I couldn't slide the cable back and forth by hand...had to use channel locks...held one end uphigh and sprayed pb. Blaster down in and worked the cable back and forth and boy the muddy and dirt that came our......then decided that wasn't good enough so I took some gas and put it downing the top and worked it back n forth by this time it was sliding easy as pie by hand...let it drain out a while then ran anti-freeze thru it...had it sliding like a hot knife thru butter . Reinstalled it and everything worked great. Needless to say enough muddy and sort came out that it clogged the paint filter... | |
