| I'm taking my winch off of my can am outlander and putting it on my RZR. Do I have to buy a new wiring harness or can I just use the one off my outlander. thanks | |

| At the most you will might have to extend some of the wires, especially if they were specific to the Can Am but thats not a big deal. Just be sure to use the proper size gauge wire and make good connections. You will need a new mount for the Rzr, those aren't universal. | |

| I went into deep water a while back and the switch for the winch and stuff got wet and it set the winch off. It drew itself tight and burned the motor up. Couldn't stop it till I disconnected it from the battery. Since then I have put this battery disconnect switch in there. A safety thing. | |

| Groundhog I did the same thing with my winch. I now always leave it in free wheel, had to replace the winch motor n was almost new when it happened. If u get a winch this what I have done with mine n just a suggestion. I got 5000 lb, yes they fit, less strain because so big n when I rarely use it it's a bad situation (wreck, stuck in mud with engine not run), rather burn up a winch than drive train. Think about it we spend most of our time winding up the cable, I put a switch on the dash, I put a one also on the front bumper so as not to damage it when pushing others, that way I can control cable side to side preventing improper wrapping. I also have a wireless remote, never no when a switch will fail. I don't use mine much, even took it off but I run my dogs on trails at home n got stuck once without it so I put it back on, point binging if u always ride in groups u might spend the money better elseware | |

| I agree, don't need a winch around here with other people around. I've had the rzr out west a couple of times by myself. Stuck it on there for that. Carried a steel rod and small sledge and shovel. Never needed any of it. Good idea about free wheeling. | |

| Personally I think a winch is a great idea no matter what even if you ride with a group. I figure the better I am prepared and less I gotta rely on someone the btr..that and I know my stuff works nuttin lime going riding with someone you think is prepared just to find out their stuff ain't working | |
