| Noticed the front pinion seal was leaking. I grabed the front yoke an it seems like I have a lot of play. I'm guessing I need a new seal and bearing. Does anyone have any tips on changing one out? | |

I had to rebuild my front diff last year...I had brought a used one to get the parts I needed....I do know the pinion gear and bearing are one piece and cost about 350.00....

| I've got a mechanic, who is Polaris certified, who said he would do it for $40. Probably just have him do it. Also, has anyone tried to find just the bearing? | |

If the bearing is bad you need to pull the diff and take it apart....a bad bearing will cause it to chip the teeth off the pinion and ring gear......

| $40.00 bucks doesn't sound right...Some play is normal. Hopefully the yoke is worn? Check closely to make sure it's not that. If you can get the front prop shaft off by removing the center console then you may gain access to the four screws that hold the gear and seal in place. You can then do the work on your bench. Also check the prop shaft support bearing while you are there. They get a lot of muddy water on them. If you do end up taking the shaft apart make sure you put it back together so that it stays balanced. Or you can pull the gear case out as per the video above and go from there. | |

| The $40 dollars is me pulling the diff out and taking it to him. Also, last night, I found a set of sealed bearings for the front diff for $89. What is the difference in sealed vs open cage bearings? | |

| I was referring to the prop shaft support bearing which is near the drivers seat. That stays wet under there. | |

I haven't had any problems with mine but will probably go ahead and change it while I have it tore down.
