| So, I was hearing you could construct your own DIY lock and ride plugs / tie downs out of items you can buy at Lowe's/Home Depot/Hardware Store. I did a search and didn't have any luck pulling a parts list. I can see that you'd need a bolt or threaded rod, but not sure about the plug and cam. Maybe you can just bolt them tighter vs the cam lever, but either way, I can't think of what to use for the plug except for back in the old Chemistry class days with a rubber stopper for pyrex flask.
Mostly concerned with plugging holes and making tie downs out of them for now, but maybe locking a box down in the future.
Any point in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

| Wait, do they make a 1" quick cap (I'm assuming that is about the right size)?....ie. wingnut plug to close off your plumbing system to pressure test it?
I can see if they make one that small that your could remove the wingnut and replace with an eye bolt.
Just called Polaris dealer (local) and they want $15.99 each for the mounting plugs. Ouch!

| I have seen several people say you can get the " 1" test plugs long length" but I hit grainger, lowes , home depot , tractor supply , plumbing supply off of Liberty street and all have gone to the newer shorter test plug ( which will not hold ) . Larry did build him some from lowes out of the specality case using a rubber stopper and a (3/8 "or 1/4") Eye bolt and washer and bolts on either side of the rubber stopper . Do a search on Polaris Ranger Club Matt for Lock and Ride plugs you should find a list of parts on there .... There is a difference between Ranger and RZR lock and ride plugs ( Ranger is much larger ) . | |

| If all you want to do is plug the hole then try a boat store. | |

| I went through this with mounting my DeeZee Box. Unless you need custom length lock and ride anchors, you will save a lot of running around and searching for parts if you just get the ones from SuperATV or the Polaris ones from World Class, which with our discount are not too bad. The only reason I would try to make my own ever again is if I needed a custom length or a 100 of them. It's just not worth it to me.

| Seems like I tried boat plugs , on size was to big , the other would not expand far enough to hold , unless there is a 3 rd size I did not see. I agree with ya Derick , some times its just easier to just buy what works .... I did that on my ranger , and noting on my RZR is lock and ride so have not been down that road yet ... | |

Not a bad idea to keep the mud out. Thanks for the suggestion.

| Thanks for the links Derrick. Rick at EMP has some options as well. - handymancanfixit wrote:
