| I was reading over on rzrforums about problems of dust getting through due to poor design of the stock air box. Where the air comes into the box it doesn't flow over the whole filter. What are some mods you all are using to keep the dust out? I am getting a rzr in the spring and I have gained a wealth of knowledge from reading on here and other forums, but for now I just have my inlaw's Ranger. I would like to purchase my rzr with as many mods in place, or complete as many immediately after purchasing as I can. Pics would be good. I saw a pic of a pre filter I guess on the other board, but I couldn't tell the exact location of where it was. In the bed behind the seats?? | |

| I think the older rzr's had those problems but were corrected around the later part of 09'. I have a 2010 and have never gotten dust by the filter. I grease the inner lip of the filter before I put it on and use a slip on prefilter (outerwear). Keep it cleaned after every ride and change it when needed and you shouldn't have any problem. | |

| Im with Ray Ray.....on my 09 I used an outerwear pre filter. I always got dust and dirt in it. I cleaned it after every ride spotless. sprayed lithium grease all in it and put the filter back in. I always kept a few filters around. If there was a hint of dirt in the filter I changed it. It was a pain in the butt to do all that after every ride but I felt it was worth it taking care of my machine.
When each machine comes back after a ride they all have a strict checklist they go through before they go back out. It takes me a few hours for each machine after each ride. |

I snorkeled mine and left the stock filter and added another filter at the top of the snorkel which is under my roof....I only have to clean the filter on top of the snorkle...the stock filter stays clean...

| No matter what year and no matter what filter, when you get the rzr, pull the bed off and make sure the clamps going to the throttle body are tight. Other wise you may be wasting your time and money... | |

| Thanks for the tips guys. I thought the snorkel with another filter was a great idea, but then all the snorkels I saw, the machine had no back window. I know from the ranger that a back window is a must if you are running a windshield. I couldn't tell if there was enough room to fit a window at all and maybe cut out a hole for the snorkel. I would be interested in getting your checklist Tbone. You guys have been at this long enough that you def know what to look for. Thanks for the help! I'm prob going for the 570. As my first rzr and for the riding that I do, this will be all that I need. I do plan on buying wheel spacers, rims, tires, doors and shocks if avail at the time of purchase. Also twistedstitch bench seat and harneses clear across. All the accessories are part of the reason I need to go with the 570 too, keep the base price cheap so I can add toys to it. | |

| I have 2 UNI filters, one is in the RZR while the other is always clean, oiled, and ready to go. I swap them out after every ride. The UNI comes with a hose clamp around the neck, I tighten it to the point that it'll barely fit onto the intake tube. Always grease the inner neck to help it slide into position/seal and you'll be fine. | |

I have mine snorkled and I have a back window. The air intake is right between the seats pointed downward with a UNI filter on it. The CVT intake is right beside that and the CVT exhaust along the bar behind the passenger seat and pointed out the rear (lots of heat in the summer). I also have the DFR air box. I wish that I would have snorkled it sooner.

Tube type over the stock filter is what we run.

| mrwvsportsman, if you go with the 570 you shouldn't have to worry about dust issues in the intake. The 570 has the new setup that is on the xp, I think. | |

| I got an early made 09 (think it was made inOct 08) and have had zero issues with dust ingestion. However, I keep a close eye on it all of the time. The updated air filter system has 3 clips on the airbox lid, where as the 08s had just 2. The 570 and 900s air filter system is light years ahead of the 800s. | |
