PostSubject: Rigid 10" light bar review   Rigid 10" light bar review Icon_minitimeMarch 23rd 2012, 11:26 pm

I've never been happy with the stock lights on any of these side by sides other than the ones on the RZR XPs. I was about to upgrade to HIDs in the stock lights, but then I went on the ride of my life and changed my mind. I could see ok for about 100yrds, then my lights would get covered in mud again. It was a little scary trying to keep up with Ricky Lilly in the dark on trails I had never been on, and having no idea where I was at. So, I decided to get a light bar and mount it just under the front edge of the roof to the cage that way it would be up out of the mud.

After watching video after video, and looking up the specs on several different models, I finally made up my mind.

Rigid SR10 Specter series. It is a single row led bar with a driving pattern. It has 15 leds, draws 3.7 amps and 53 watts. Output is 5100 lumens. Beam distance is 364 meters. Video doesn't show all of the light off in the distance or way out to the side, nor does it show all the light output of the stock headlights either. I was wondering if the 10" would be enough, and believe me it is.

That will be a nice win for someone. I bet they won't be selling those if they win. Expensive, but I will say these things are top notch. Very nicely built, and the wiring was really nice.

There is alot of light that video don't pick up on both the stockers and and leds. When I turned the light bar off the 1st time, I was like, "I drove this thing that hard with these stock lights?" It's expensive, but I consider this safety equipment.

Yea i put a set of duallies on mine and BigG mentioned that they are like a safety feature and well worth the money. Another one of the features is for whatever reason they blow a bulb or break one the rest of the bar still works and they are nearly endestructable at that.

I never watched the video after putting it on youtube. It didn't look to bad on my computer, but on youtube it shows no light at all from either the light bar or headlights.

I just let youtube edit the video, and it's a little better now. Still nothing like it looks in person. What a bunch of Rigid 10" light bar review 911262 Rigid 10" light bar review 661356

Ok amps, watts, and volts

Amps are units of electric current flow
Volts are units of electric potential
Watts are units of power

For dc systems like these things use watts= volts*amps

Most of these things get rated at the charging system voltage of 14.4 volts. So doing the math from humps post. 53watts/14.4volts=3.7amps

That's very low for the light output you get from a LED

Conventional lights have a high wattage rating meaning they consume a high amount of power but most of the energy is lost as heat

For example the 55 watt HIDs put out 10 times the light as a 55 watt halogen

I would use watts to determine what you can handle.

I put some on the Rhino a few years ago. If you are in front they are great. No reflection off the windshield. If you are in a group and it is dusty ... you will need one in amber.

The video shows nothing. It puts light way down the trail. I could not imagine a spot pattern. I was looking at buying just one light, with minimal power drain, but get the job done. I looked at the graphs of the different patterns on all of rigid's lights, and decided that this one was the best they had to offer for the money, and the trails we ride. I will be at the campfire at the spring ride so you guys can check it out. I took a chance on it, and wish I could have seen what it could do before paying that much. It does way better than my expectations. If I had it to do over, I would get the same thing again.

I read somewhere what the power output of the rzr was. Seems like it was 500 watts, and the ignition, fuel pump, and fan soaked up half of it. So, you have something like 250 to use for lights, stereo, etc. And that 500 watt output was at 3000 rpms, below that was very low. I didn't want to get anywhere near that limit, that's why I spent the $ for LEDs. Avg 50,000 hr life on the leds. That's more night riding than I can do in my lifetime.

with my 30" led bar, hid headlights, 2-4" led's on bumper, and the stereo playing at idle ive never had the batt light come on. even when the fan kicks on still no battery light.

i plan on putting a second gel cell in with a isolator just for those long beer breaks with the stereo playing.

Good to know. Rigid 10" light bar review 722106 I don't know Rigid 10" light bar review 911262 when it comes to this whole battery, charging system stuff. I'm just scared of overdoing it, I guess because of all those quads I had as a kid that had one set of extra lights that drained the battery. I guess things have changed a little.

I like that beam pattern. I got the E-series double row 10" combo. It is a lot more of a spot than flood despite being marketed as a combo. It actually works pretty well with the XP stock LED lights though since they have a pretty good flood. I do wish the combo beam was a real row of 10" flood to go with the other row of spot. Mine is 10* spot and 20* flood. It would be much better as either one of those as the spot and 30 or 40 degree flood.

Specs on mine: http://www.rigidindustries.com/product-p/eseries10.htm

I'm sure it would be better to get it up too because it does get mud, but generally just before dark, I clean my windshield and my lights at the same time for the ride home. Still, I think it would give the flood beam more chance to disperse.

I don't see a degree of flood on your "driving beam" pattern, but looking at the graph, it looks like yours goes out to 60' and mine only floods to 30'. That is a big difference and looks like you get plenty of distance too.

Cool, nice light, thanks for making the video Hump. Maybe I'll add one like yours down the road to the roof.

It is Hump, I made him read me the part number and everything, the price was $284 and he is charging $20 for shipping. For some serious deals on Rigid lights call Stephen at Black Rhino and tell him you are on rzrforums and you will get great deals. He has the duallys for $150 also if anyone is interested. I am going to light up the world with the duallys I got from Elmo15, this bar and my HID headlights LOL Too bad I don't do much night riding LOL
