Next truck brand help

Just curious what kind of truck you guys like the best. I'm wanting to pick up one within the next year. My last 3 trucks were, a Ford and then 2 Chevy's and all 3 were a P.O.S!! I have a Toyota Car right now and it is awesome. I have almost 150,000 miles on it and all I have done is replaced one set of front brake pads on it. I don't know if the Toyota trucks last as good as this car though. My last 3 trucks began to fall apart at 90,000 miles or so.

Would love to hear everyones opinions on the matter. Also I am not interested in a deisel.

Whatcha gonna do with it? Tow 7000 lb or less? More than 7000 lb? Daily driver? How many miles yr empty and towing?

As of right now the most towing I do is my XP and a ATV. Just looking for a half ton, 4wd, crew cab, gas truck. The brand was really the biggest question I had. Mainly looking for something that will hopefully be much more reliable than my Fords and Chevys have been.

For all you Popo haters out there, I have had to repair my Chevy truck more than my Popo's over the years. Hope Tbone don't own a Chevy. LOL!!!

Ford all the way. These days they are all good to be honest though. Just buy what u like.

I've had three new trucks. 99 F-150, 2003 F-150, and my Tacoma. I thought after 4 years Ford would fix their problems. I guess you don't need a bailout if you don't spend money to fix your junk. Same problems, horrible missfire from 40k on, with alternators and power steering pumps going bad. And then we get to talk about the brakes, or lack of I should say. What's so great about warped rotors every 10k miles?

I really like the idea of the ecoboost, but the price tax is crazy, and the thought of it being a piece of crap like the last two I owned just makes me sick.

Get a Tundra. If they are anything at all like my Taco, you will love it, and it will love you back.

I hate to say it, Toyota. I've beat the shit out of them and the big three in the oilfield and nothing goes better and lasts longer than a Toyota. They are made in America , toyota engine plant is in wv.

I'll tell ya from a GM Certified Technician's point of view and being a full time mechanic for over 15yrs daily, it doesnt matter what brand you own or like, there will always be something to fix, I have had very random experiences with problem vehicles, with some vehicles being flawless and rebought the exact same Year Make Model and that one being a total piece of crap, from working on all makes and models parts for Fords are more expensive than Chevy's and GMC's and quite frankly Ford are harder to work on for the Do It yourselfer, I think GMC makes really good trucks if you looking at new ones, we havent had any major recalls or issues with any of them in the last few years, If I could afford a new truck I wouldnt hesitate to buy a GMC, my second choice would be a Toy Tundra though for sure !!

Boys i bleed ford blue but after my last f 150 i went for the tundra and the 150 can't hold a candle to the toy .the toy has more power and handles a trailer better in my opinion.

For 1/2 ton gas, Toyota.

For a diesel (which would presumably be a 3/4 or 1 ton) Dodge Ram. You can't beat a Cummins diesel in-line 6 IMHO, and there's no fooling around with EPA-mandated urea (Ram meets the EPA standards without that).

Toyota for reliability. For what you listed I would get a Tundra. Not the most modern but pretty durn nice. I had a Dodge Ram with Hemi I really enjoyed but had a newer Jeep that sucked on repairs. I now am trying to fill my garage with Toyota or Honda vehicles. They have good resale and generally require less repairs.



As for Ford EcoBoost -- they are OK but just OK. Towing they get no better MPG than most gassers. My local ATV site went to Utah last year and took 6 trucks. Only 1 needed a repair -- a 2011 EcoBoost F-150 4x4 Lariat -- it lost a coil pack and luckily the Kansas dealer took one off another truck to get him back on the road. The best fuel economy towing was a Chevy 1500 4x4 with 200k miles....
