| The pyle kit like the Poly Planner offers 2 different speaker sizes , 4" and 6.5" , Neuromax and I each purchased one of each , then swapped 2 speakers , so I have 2 of each size and so does he . | |

| For the new members that want to add some tunes this is the way to go.
http://www.shop.com/Poly+Planar+MP3+KIT+A+MP3-487517071-p+.xhtml
This is the best price I found on this kit as of right now.
Go back to the first page to see how to install it in your roof.I used a $10.00 black plastic tool box you buy at Wal-Mart and cut 2.5" off of the bottom and install everything in it and throw out what is left of the tool box.
TBONE shows his install on page 2 of this thread

| Ok thanks. Mine has been broken since new and since the radio is currently out of the rzr waiting on the new machine, I should go ahead and fix that problem.
Thank you! |

| Ok, so I've got a nice set of 6.5" marine speakers that I'd like to use. I think I'll need to put a little larger amp on it to push them. I hate to buy the Pyle kit if I wouldn't be using the amp. Is the only think I'd really need a Volume rheostat and On/Off rocker switch?
Upon further review, looks like I'd be better to just buy the kit since I'd need the ipod connector. Wonder if I could just swap out the amp and the speakers......hmmm hate to spend all that $ to throw out the main components of the system.

You need a I-pod female input yeah, I realized that a few minutes ago and edited my first post. Wondering if I just go ahead and buy the kit and swap amp and speakers out. Seems kind of wasteful. Thinking of mounting my nice speakers under the dash like Punder has his in 6" PVC fitting. Put a marine amp under the hood with the volume control on the dash and ipod connection in the glove box with the ipod in small waterproof box in the glove box. I think I can do all of this for around $200 (not including current speakers) and have a pretty strong system. Would be sweet to have a remote to work on the ipod like the SSV has though.

| Matt , you can get a Ipod connector for a standard amp and use the volume from your MP3 or Ipod , this system just makes it easier to do as you travel down the trail to adjust the volume , you can still put a switch on the amp and cut it off and on so you can have a way to hear other people or problems ... The kit is just a nice all in one , it you have parts use what you got... I do suggest a 150-200 watt amp , my 200 I can hear great going down the trail.... | |

| Good stuff guys! I was looking at a 250 watt 2 channel JL marine amp which is fairly compact. I would think that would drive the 6.5's well. I've got a waterproof cellphone case that is kind of a glorified ziplock bag but is very heavy duty and has a plug input the connects through the bag. You can still operate the device through the bag. I forgot about this last night. I can probably figure out a way to mount that on the dash and kind of work like a remote like the SSV. Drew, did you use 6" caps or couplings for your under dash mount? - punder wrote:

| Local stereo guy said best way is to do a head unit that controls the ipod and keeps it charged. Since my ipod is old, that is a good thing. Said $99 for marine head unit. Said if CD craps out, do you really care, all you want to do is to play the ipod, keep it charged and control volume.
Have to look at my dash and consider just mounting it there. Keep it high and put a cover on it. Maybe one of the poly planar full enclosure pods.

| Matt , still don't see the need for a Head unit ... I looked around and see no reason something like this would not work with what you have ....
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&rlz=1C2GGGE_enUS433US455&q=amp+with+Volume+controller&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1049&bih=671&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=16983383621116594526&sa=X&ei=MlUsT9XcAfTH0AGqsbDhCg&ved=0CEkQ8wIwAw
Looks to me like you can convert your Ipod Earphone to RCA ( Radio shack should have this ) in one side of that RCA level controler , the other side connects to the amp its self ... Your Ipod would be a full or near full volume and the reduction would come from this controler ... I would still switch the amp on a toggle or to cut on and off with the Key switch of the RZR ... as for keeping the Ipod charged .....
But you can probably get this at Walmart /best buy /radio shack

| Maybe I'll just do the 4 speaker Pyle system for the time being and substitute my 6.5's into the system vs the Pyle 6.5's. | |

| As for the speaker pods , I did a step by step on the forum somewhere ... I still have some of the stuff you will need . Basily its a 6" cap , you need a ring of 6" PVC on the inside for the speaker to screw into and our lowes did not have any project pieces of 6" PVC pipe ... On the RZR there is a main pole that runs across ( the passanger handle attaches to it ) under the dash , I used that to mount the pods to ... I used a single U bolt belive it was 2' 1/4 Bolt .... Hard part is getting the angle right , I did put mine at a slight angle to keep the sound inside the cab more . I read on a fourm somewhere that if you did not port the enclosure , you need to add Foam ( like the type of foam in a kids toy ) this give the speaker air space ... I am not sure you would not be fine in porting them Matt .. 1/2 " out the top 1-2" with a 90" fitting , this would let the air out and air pressure inside would keep water out in a roll over ( kinda like you guys did down at busco on the exhaust snorkels ) ... I would make a better bass sound , i have base sound but missing the punch in the set up I have and porting would give that ... Fusion paint works great on the PVC pipe , I also used it on the speaker covers ( mine was white ) ... I also thought about putting them in the center of the dash side by side , or even using a 90 degree or street fitting 6" like the guys at buso put on the front of the ATV's , this would let you be about to put the amp inside of the tube also ... I have a piece of 6" pipe if you need a ring , I also have left over fusion black paint ... | |

| Ok, thanks Drew!, I'll let you know. I'm not in a huge hurry but wanting to research. I wish I could find a ready made pod without the speakers.....kind of like the SSV or even the cooter brown. I just don't need the speakers. I'd love the rear SSV speaker pod without the speakers, then I'd furnish my own speakers. | |

Yep, floor pods. I'll figure out what I'm going to do from there later. Like I said, not in a huge hurry. Might just do the 4 speaker deal like you and Daryl did and if I feel like I need to swap the amp later on for more power, then I'll try to do that if I can find one compact enough. Some of those little digital amps are pricey!

| That little 200 amp that Daryl and I have is decent ... I need to readjust the gain now that I have switched to the Sansa fuse over the older MP3 that I had ... its only at full throttle that I can not hear the Stereo .. so I assume that to be pretty decent ... Better quality speakers could make the difference in that ... I just like a good bass sound ... | |
