One of the members on the Wildcat forum is talking about putting together a week long ride next July in Colorado. Some of the pictures he has been posting have really be something and it looks like a great place to ride. Others who have been there say it's someplace everyone needs to ride at least once. I checked and the drive time from Va to Colorado in the area he is talking about is about 25 hours. I am going to be watching the thread when it appears to see if this is doable for me. Is there anyone else that might he interested in attending this?

About 10 of us from TTB are going out the first week in Sept.  This will be our second trip to Taylor Park.

It is a 27 hour drive from Winston Salem to TP.  We will leave Thur night at 7:00pm, drive 24 hours and spend the night in Colorado Springs and then 3 hours the next morning.

The last time we went we all had ATV's and we could easily haul them.  Now most of us have SxS's and it is much more difficult.  We just built a 30 trailer that we will haul 2 RZR-S, 1 XP 900, 1 Ace, and one Commander.  Picture is below.  I have also linked some videos we took last time.

Mt Antero - 14,000 feet, don't be afraid of heights.

Flag Mtn - scenic

Upper Italian - one difficult section

Devils Punchbowl - one scary section near the end

Thanks for the video Bob, that looks like it would be a pretty narrow trail in a SXS. The area they are talking about riding is around Leadville CO.

good one WOW, the videos make the WV mountains look like hills.  I don't believe my heart would let me ride that close to the outer edge of those mountains.  BUT, I bet it would be an exciting trip...MD

Obviously all trails are not like those 4.  I only edited videos of the signature trails.

Ross, Taylor Park is where the big RZR Forum Ride is in a couple of weeks.  It is the most popular place in CO, it has cabins, camping, RV area, store and restaurant.

I'm with TTB and this will be my second trip.  Rocky as heck but really a great place to ride.  Last time we rode down the ski slopes into Aspen -- I hope to do that again.

To be honest I'm interested in seeing how the Rzr's hold up to the Colorado rocks.

As for hills Colorado is an event.  Last time I went up one that crested spinning my tires at 40mph but moving at 1mph.  It was 1000 ft almost straight up and I was waiting to start sliding backwards.  Talk about pucker factor -- that one was crazy.  It was just a side trail when we were crossing one of the many gaps.

Just got back last night from 2 weeks in Colorado.  4,000+ mile trip got in about 400 miles of riding in the Taylor Park and Silverton areas of Colorado.  Views and riding were awesome, would highly recommend the trip to anyone that can make it.  The only downside is the rocks.  Riding 50-60 miles over rocks at 9,000+ feet and you are worn out.  Riding to the top of a 13,000 foot mountain makes for a great "View" ride, except the lightning and thunder made for a short stay.  We rode 4 days in Taylor Park, 4 days in Silverton.  We visited some family in Durango and took a non riding side trip to Mesa Verde one day.

My son Scott took a bunch of Go Pro video's once he gets those edited, I am sure he will get them posted up.

WOW, awesome pictures, spent some time in Utah and Colorado, but that was long before SXS's, hope to go out there again someday... but some of those trails looked a little narrow for any SXS

Nice job on the trailer, Bob. What is the width? I've watched a lot of YouTube videos on Taylor Park. Would love to ride there, but never found anyone that wanted to make the trip out there. I will be looking forward to seeing pics when you guys get back.

The trailer is 102" wide.  The RZRs will overhang 2" and the 900 (Randy's) will overhang about 6".  We are going to risk the overhang.  If forced we can get the S's to 102" by taking the front tires off, the 900 will take a little more work.  That damm commander is 124".

I don't know what Bob is talking about.  My Rzr 900 XP is only Applause.98" wide.  I'm 100% legal on a trailer.

Edit -- why does Applause" (One Hundred and One inches) become that clapping thing?  Is that a lie-o-meter?

Most of the trails in Colorado are wide enough for a Jeep.  My wife commandeered the RZR so my son and I were stuck with the motorcycles but that did allow us to ride some narrow single track.  Motorcycles do have an advantage on the jeep trails since you only hit half the rocks with 2 wheels vs 4 wheels!!!.  As for vehicles in Colorado I would say that 1/3 are motorcycles, 1/3 are ATV or SXS and 1/3 are Jeeps.  We did not get to ride to Aspen but hope to do that next trip.  We did do the Taylor Park to Pitkin to Alpine Tunnel to St Elmo and then back to Tincup ride that made for a great day of riding except for about 2 hours of rain that hit once we got to the Alpine Tunnel area.  We enjoyed the Union Park area Slaughterhouse Gulch trail as well as the ride to Cross Mtn.  Rode to Spring Creek reservoir  and then rode Italian Creek and Flag Mtn.  On our way back we rode most of the Dr. Park Singletrack trail.  For those getting ready to head out, I know you will have a blast.  Have a safe trip.  I hope the weather is good.  We had some rain and lows of 45 at night.

Did you ride the Upper Italian?  that one was memorable on our last trip.  Crazy narrow with huge rocks and a rolled over jeep at the bottom.
