| I am wondering if the Rangers ever post up at the intersections where the trails cross each other? Just would hate to run into them.... Someone told me I the only place they patrol are the parking lot/trail head areas. | |

| Im sure if a Ranger saw u, he would try to stop u and question u, but timing would have to be horrible for him to be able to stop u, I have never seen them parked at a intersection trying to catch ppl getting on and off the trail system........ My uncle had a ranger try to ticket his group for not having a HMT sticker on a county road. I have only seen them on the trails I think once....they do have a rule about getting on or off the trail at designated areas, I am sure that is the most commonly broken rule they have. I usually carry a helmet with me and get my pass for the year, just in case we will be on HMT, Its worth it to me to avoid the hassle.... | |

| I dont know. I think you will be fine. I have been stopped twice by a ranger. One time we were hauling ass back from Welch and in the middle of nowhere we came around the corner a long ways away from any trail head and boom he was there blocking the trail with his polaris ranger stopping everyone and checking them.
Second time he stopped us was at the intersection at the top of the hill near the bramwell trailhead. He was at a place where u couldnt get by him but he was in his nice jeep. |

| From what I read today on another forum the Rangers are loosing their jobs and its going to be turn over to dept of resources or something like that and there's only going to be 2 guys patrolling all of the H/M trails. Sucks they have to loose their jobs when the higher ups at H/m screwed everything up. | |

| A few years ago right after the IR-PC connector was made they gave out a lot of tickets on the county road near Tiny's which is also a HM trail. There are a few sections where HM trails use county roads. You can legally ride on the county road. I understand that all of the tickets were dismissed. | |

| The driveway/road in and out of Ashland Resort is considered a H/M trail so be careful if your staying there they can stop and check you. Last Labor Day there was a Ranger hanging out at the office in the mornings waiting on people leaving so he could stop and check them. | |

| Like BobT said, the area where the IR/PC Connector at Tiny's is the only area I am familiar with that the Rangers were what I call trapping riders. I seen it with my on eyes. Coming from the Connector and dropped out above that bridge, the Rangers were stopping every wheeler searching for Beer, helmets, and stickers. BUT, I heard that because of the county road, they had to stop trapping riders from crossing and heading for the haul road and Welch...MD | |
