| What do the local's use as far as cell phone service. I know verizon, sprint or nextel does not work. I used a workers cell phone at Ashland Park back in Janurary but do not know what service it had, would like to be able to call for help if something happened. | |

| I have Verizon on my regular phone but I have an AT&T prepaid phone I use in WV. It picks up very well and I have a plan that has unlimited use so when I am up there, anyone who wants to use it is welcome to. | |

Daryl, tell me more about this AT&T plan, cost and how many minutes you get. I have Verizon and hate not having phone service when up there. Might just find me a cheap plan like what you are talking about.

| Just go to Walmart (or anywhere) and you can buy a AT&T "Go Phone" its a prepaid phone, you pay $30 for the phone but it comes with a $15 prepaid card (so the phone only costs you $15) You can chose a pay by minute plan and only pay for minutes used (I think its 25 cents per minute) or do like I did. I pay a flat $3 per day I use the phone but I have unlimited calls for that day. The prepaid cards you buy do have an expiration period but if you have it set up for auto refills (credit card) the unused money rolls over and you don't lose any of it.
An example, if I only use the phone on Friday and Sat on the spring ride, I only pay $6 total, no matter how many calls I make or how much I let others use it.
another great thing about it is you can carry the phone with you and if anything happens to it (water, mud, cold) it is only a $15 phone so its not a big deal.

| I had AT&T for years & years and I had service when know one else did at Ashland and out on the trails and I would let people make a call with my phone.I just switched over to US Cellular which has better coverage in my home area which is where I needed better service. | |
