Pinnacle Creek & Indian Ridge Trail Systems Get Connected!

These images of trail maps are familiar to anyone who's ever ridden the Hatfield-McCoy Trails, but in the very near future those two trail system maps are going to have a big line connecting them! Hatfield-McCoy recently finalized the last of their land agreements and currently is building a connector trail between the Indian Ridge and Pinnacle Creek trail systems. If the weather cooperates and everything goes according to plan, construction should be complete in the next few weeks.

"The initial vision for the trail system was to connect communities in Southern WV with one continuous trail system," said Mike Pinkerton, Hatfield-McCoy Marketing Director. "I think that the founders of Hatfield-McCoy would be very proud to see that we have taken a big step forward in seeing their vision realized."

This connector between systems is a first for the trail system. It will allow riders to now ride over 150 miles of trail and connect five different towns including Pineville, Mullins, Ashland, Northfork, and Keystone.

Another first for the Hatfield-McCoy Trails is happening on the Pinnacle Creek system as well. Agreements are in place to connect the trail system to Twin Falls State Park. It will be the first connection between the trails and a state resort, and will allow riders to utilize the resort's lodge, cottages and campground with direct trail access.

By the time they get done putting in the new trail system in Bramwell it looks like we may have to start riding some H/M trails on our Spring & Fall group rides

Sounds good to me. I've already been mixing it up a bit lately between the good ole Outlaw stuff & H/M trails. It really helps if you want to keep off the asphalt especially around the Ashland C/G area.

I love #94 on the Pinnacle Creek system. Nice trail with plenty of hills. Probably not "legal" for SxS's but fun anyway...

From what I read on another site (has to be true cause I saw it on the internet) the connector is not open yet and there is no set date.

thats the best money i have spent by getting the pass

what is it 50 dollars a year? I dont have one and dont plan to buy one until 2011 so I can have a full year.

Yep just 50 bucks for out of state

We may all need one for the Spring Ride just to stay off the road some it's getting harder & harder to stay off of the H/M trails without riding more road.I will have one next year also.

sometimes they have specials in nov. you get the last 2 months of this year free and all of next year....for 50.00.....I'll keep you all posted....

Well Bobby if we are going to have to get passes I would announce it now. Alot of people dont bring helmets and people need to plan on it.

Funny thing Steve I was just on the HM site last night and saw the map connection and was thinking about trying it out on Thursday before the club ride. Only have 2 more months to use up my yearly pass. Anyone else coming and riding on Thursday Oct 7? How about it Shawn?

Thursday morning for me........

I had some friends who rode W/W & H/M last weekend. They rode the 12 mile connecter trail & yes it is mapped. Believe me it would have to be mapped or those guys would still be riding around up there lost LOL!!!
