| Just curious if anyone has ridden with anyone that has has a prowler on the trails , I have personaly never seen one on the trails but it should be a capable machine with plenty of power ( this is the 650 version ) . I have found several at good prices and have been considering them . I have ridden with Simoniz when he has had it Ranger on the trail and it seemed to do well . Is the Prowler larger than the Ranger ? What are the down sides to the artic cat ? | |

| Drew,
Talk to Dwayne Younts. I beleive he had one and he was not very happy with it and sold it to purchase the Rhino.

| Mark is right Duane had one very briefly, I forgot about that. He got it from Jack at Busco. He didn't keep it long. | |

| I am just trying to keep from Fianacing anything , and looking towards what I can buy cash , this is what is in that range . I just don't fit in a Rhino comfortably , Ranger is rather large , and RZR is just out my price range to even buy used so just looking at the other options . My son is allready to ride and I'm rideless !!! | |

I can understand that Drew in that case I would rather have a Prowler than nothing and be rideless :117:

| Drew we can shorten the shaft on the steering wheel of the Rhino and make it much better for you. Rhino's are cheap right now. | |

| I agree, you'd be better off with the Rhino then the Prowler... Here again, just a opinion... | |

| I'll be honest -- I love my Rhino but do not like the pedal/seat position. My legs do feel cramped and I had to add some blocks to make my legs comfortable. I would recommend going to SouthernSxS forum and PM'n Gunrunner. He had a 650 Prowler and can provide more details. He also is a larger than average fellow (so am I) and can help explain room.
For what it's worth I really liked my Arctic Cat H1 650 ATV. Extremely rugged. Not fast but durable and very capable. I would expect the Prowler to be strong and able to take some abuse. The Arctic Cat 650 is a great engine and the tranny is better than the Rhino (uses internal clutch like Rhino but has better sealing metal case). Width and height will be somewhat of an issue on the Prowler but for most of the riding in WV it'll be fine. Toby will like whatever you get!!

| Just looking to ride Mark , RZR is the glove that fits and just outside what I have , so just looking outside of that to see what is avalible , so I'm open . I know Mule is out , the knockoffs are out , and RZR is out just do to the price factor . That gives me Prowler , Ranger , Rhino . In the Rhino I have ridden in , I had fun , but as Randy mentioned it was foot position that was uncomfortable , and the position of the stearing wheel and body roll ( most of these are due to the fact I am large and Tall ) . Ranger I would say shear size , but everything else fits ( Or polaris fits me ) . So that leaves me with Prowler being the unknown for me . I sat in a Prowler at Gander MTn. and I have to say it was very comfortable , lots of space , seamed very tall and wide ( which is the complaints I'm seeing and hearing ) , but I'm looking more into what are the mechinical problems , the annoying issues ( for polaris ATVs it was heavy steering , body roll ) . I also hate that I would put me out of Ride sharing with Daryl ( would not fit in his trailer ) , So its cheap in but more expensive to ride ( catch 22 ) . If My trailer would sell , I would not have this problem ..... | |

| Hey, I have rode both. The ranger is actually smaller then the prowler and it sits 3. The Prowler sits 2. The ranger is a GREAT machine, but the Prowler is 2. If I had to choose between the 2, I would take the ranger. Not knocking the Prowler at all. I just love my ranger, all in all its a great machine and I have put it through some great test. But if all you can afford is a Prowler, then go for it man. Just having something to ride is better then nothing at all. Have you considered the 500 Ranger? I haven't looked at prices but it may be in your ball park? | |

| Was unsure how a 500 ranger would do with the weight . Good to know that the Ranger is smaller than the Prowler . | |

| Actually punder, I was wrong. I looked up on both mfg sites to confirm that and they are both 60 " wide. The ranger is 75" tall and the Prowler is 77.5" tall. So They are pretty close to the same size. It just seems like the Prowler is wider then my ranger. That is the new model dimensions, not sure about used ones. | |

| What about the Treyx. I don't know what their going for. Their are alittle bigger inside than the Rhinos and are only 4"s wider than the Rhino. | |

| I know Polaris , and feel comfortable with a artic cat . Kawasaki is a unknown to me , I have had several street bikes but no atv and have ridden with few of them on the trails . With the money I have I can do a 05 Ranger or Prowler if I find a good deal on one . I found a 6x6 in my price range ( don't guess traction would be a problem and it came with a push plow ) . I liked Bobbys picture of his old Ranger . I wish I had the money right now to go new cause that is what I would do , but ...... as long as I can get out and ride with my son I don't really care to impress anyone with what I have . | |
