| Well I have a 1000 miles on it now and today I noticed going down hills it would be braking and then take off. I heard this is a sign of the belt getting wore so I am going to be replacing it before it breaks and leaves me stranded. I am wanting to know what type of belt is everyone running. I have seen some on ebay from 45 to 150 so let me know. | |

| I've been told that you can find cheaper, but can't find any that are better the Yamaha Factory Replacement?? Can't say for sure as I'm not that far along on mine yet. |

| stick with a yamaha belt.
with only a 1000 miles i think the belt should would fine. many people have put 5000+ miles on the rhino belt with no trouble. sounds like a wet clutch or one way bearing trouble.
a great post on rhino freewheeling http://utilityoffroad.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17086 |

| I agree with the one way bearing, thats a sign it is going out. The belt should last much longer than 1000 miles and nothing beats the OEM belt. | |

| I can only tell you based on the 660 but to get to it on the 660 you pull off the primary and secondary sheaves, take off the back half of the plastic cover and then take off the metal cover behind the primary. You have to drop the oil because its the part that is "wet". Once you pull that cover off the one way bearing is right behind it. It really isn't a bad job if you are mechanically inclined and no special tools are needed other than an impact (for the primary nut)
Again, this is for the 660. Hopefully someone will chime in and tell you if its the same. | |

| I changed my stock belt at 2000 miles, no real problems but I was changing the sheave so I went with a new EPI belt, after talking to the folks on here, everyone seems to have better luck with the stock yamaha belt so that will be my next move. I did notice a decrease in top end speed with the original belt, but no change in engine braking. | |
