| I am going to look at a 04 Yamaha Rhino 660. What should I be looking for? I have not looked at it yet. It has no gas gauge or speedodometer. Can these be added or fixed? Has a chip for 55mph, also has doors, two tops, new tires. Thanks, | |

| Go check it out. Always follow your gut. If you see something you dont like then dont buy it. WV HOT ROD RHINO knows alot about these and he will chime in later.
Good Luck! |

| I had an 05 and it had a lot of hrs on it...and it had been rode hard and put up wet. I bought it for 5200.00 and put another 1800.00 in it on repairs. They are really hard on brakes and wheel bearing if you use wheel spacers and play in the mud alot. If I had it to do all over again I would have bought a used rzr. The older rhino's have a lot of viberations to them also and are noisy...Now on the good part...they are like a mountain goat...they will go anywhere. They are better to work with around the yard or on the farm and can tow a lot. It really depends on what you use it for...but if it's mostly for trail riding...hold out and look for a good used rzr...just my opinion. | |

| If you do all your work yourself then you will love the Rhino! It is a easy machine to work on. Yes it is hard on rear wheel bearings but if you pack the new bearings before you install them they seem to last alot longer.Bearings run less than $40.00 for bearings and seals! Brakes are easy to change on the front, a little harder on the back! Less than $40.00 for front and back. Just be sure you check it out good before you make a decision on it! Check the front spindles, and the rack for tight spots. I have a 07 450 and it has been a good machine. I have just beat the shit out of it trying to keep up with the big boys! | |

| The 2004's had smaller axles they made them heavier on the 2005 an up machines but overall they seemed like a good machine | |

| i had an 04 rhino. the axles are weaker on 04 than other years and no speedo or hr gauge. wheel bearings wear fast along with rear knuckle bearings. check the frame where the rear diff mounts. they been known to crack and break. they also have a weak drive gears in the bottom of the motor. also there was a oil burning issue they first came out. i would look for a 06 and up if it was me.
also the speedo can be added to all rhinos. |
