| Update February 2011 While Pocahontas Trail System [Mercer County] construction has been snowed under, planning continues. Most Pocahontas trails have been mapped. Jeff Lusk, Executive Director of Hatfield-McCoy, tells us trail building will re-start in earnest the first week of March. An engineer and architect have been chosen to design the Trailhead. It will be located about a mile west of Bramwell conveniently accessed from U.S. Route 52. The Trailhead is expected to be a showplace entrance to the eastern side of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. Trails branching from this Trailhead will provide access to over 250 miles of trails traversing 3 trail systems – Pocahontas, Indian Ridge, and Pinnacle Creek – plus Ashland Resort.

| We use to unload right on the side of the road on US 52 right outside Bramwell a few yrs back . I'm thinking this trail system will probally take in some of the trails we use to ride over there around the Wind Mill Gap Rd area. But that's alright with me.....I kinda like riding the H/M these days especially if it makes a way to stay off the hardtop & get me where I wanna get to. | |

I'm sure that is where the trail head is going in I would think with trails already leading towards Ashland. The reason most people quit parking there was that their trucks were being broken into and stuff stolen out of them. | |
