Memorial Day Weekend

Going to be down at Wagon Wheel memorial day weekend.Staying in Northfork at Sam's Guest House.Anybody wants go ride that weekend so far there is only going to be three of us.

I may try to make this ride!

I think Wacker knows some trails around Gilbert that aren't HFM.
I like Wagon Wheel and Ashland better too Bobby.

Commanderx I stayed at Miller cabins once. Nice place and real close to most stuff in Gilbert.

There are more places than what we have listed in the one thread so if you don't have any luck I'm sure we can all put our heads together and find another place or two.

We stayed at Dales place in crumpler two weeks ago and it was nice.
Full kitchen 1 bath. no w/d
no website but ph is 843-504-0192.

It all depends on where I'm working if I'm still working at my present job then I'm scheduled to work that weekend but if I'm called back to my old job by then I will have a 3 day weekend so it's up in the air right now.

I would think the new H/M Pocahontas trail system will be open by then which it was scheduled to open in April but I think they are running behind so by Memorial weekend It should be done and that will give you 3 H/M systems to ride and 250 miles of trails right there not counting more than that of the free Wagon Wheel trails.

Ok since you have a Can-am (that makes you a smart decent person in my book!!) I will let you know of a place to stay that far exceeds Ashland:



Brick House in Northfork approx 1/4 mile on right after you turn off 52 toward Ashland Resort.
Went to eat at the Cafe in Northfork and met a guy named Sam Larry that has fixed up a house for ATV Riders. We stopped and checked it out:
House is $100 a night (introductory price) and includes:
-3 Bedrooms upstairs
-Full Kitchen
-Den with Sofa (Plenty of sleeping space on main floor)
-Basement with shower (clean up when dirty)
-Washer and Dryer
-Free Long Distance Calls
-Free wifi internet
-Central Air Downstairs (window units upstairs)
-Large Screen TV in Den
-TV in every Bedroom and in kitchen
-Parking at house is limited but there is abundant parking across the street (land across street is owned by FEMA)
Great House since it is on the Connector Trail. Sam has been working on it to rent. Really has a great deal...

I told Sam I would pass on the info to people that would not tear his place up. He's spent lots of $$$ fixing it up and is offering a great deal!! The Hatfield McCoy Trail connecting Indian Ridge and Pinnacle Creek is right behind his house.

Yeah, it does sound like a deal, especially when it has 3 bedroom. 3 bedrooms makes it easier to split with someone else compared to Ashland.

It's an incredible deal. It will sleep far more than the 3 bedrooms. It has a den, parlor, kitchen, basement, and alot of other space. He went overboard with 6 TV's I can think of. The wireless internet and free long distance phone calls just top it off. We met Sam at the Coffee Shop in Northfork (the one that sells the Demon Burger). My 13yr old daughter wants to rent it to bring a bunch of friends to WV...

My only recommendation when staying at Sam's is carry a way to lock up your SxS. A chain through the wheel and frame works great. The parking is on the street in front of the house.

Oh dont know if I like that. That may have me a little worried. I may just stay at Millers cabins and drive down there to ride with you guys if anybody wants to go. One person that is going has stayed there before that may be going with us. I also have my name on the waiting list for ashland too so if something opens I will just go down there.

Just to clarify the parking is where you see the cars in the picture. It's not "on" the street but is just off of it. If that bothers you call and talk to Sam. The house has a garage and he would probably clear it out for parking. I'm not exactly sure how large the garage is. Sam's an extremely nice guy and is anxious to rent it out. He will do about anything to accomodate riders.

Cool -- Glad I could help. Sam was real proud of it and liked showing it off. It was his Mom's (she passed away). He's fixed it up and really gone way overboard for what he's charging. When he said "$100 night" I about fell over. My friend Allen (in blue coat) looked at me and said "did he say $100".

Hope the house works out well for you. I'm hoping to make it up that weekend.

We will have to hook up and do some riding that weekend then I dont know any of the trails around there at all.

I'll try to make it. I don't know many trails either. I've traveled maybe 1500 miles of different trails in the area and they all look the same LOL. Good thing I have them on my GPS!

Yes so keep me in mind I can bring a cot and sleeping bag.The more we have will be cheaper on all of us
