660 rhino owners beware

just thought id let everbody know who has a 660 rhino. im sure some of u have either read about or had the problem with the bolts in the middle gear backing out and let the gears get damaged due to miss alignment. i just had to split the case on mine to put a new crank in it and guess what i found. all 4 bolts holding the bearing plate in place i took out with my fingers and the pinion nut was also loose. needless to say im all most kinda glad i blew mine up before the middle drive came apart. i have another 04 660 motor in my shop that needs a set of main cases middel gears and the bearing mount due to yamaha not using thread locker on the same 4 bolts i found loose in my engine. my local yamaha dealer wants 1100$ for the main case set alone. i just figured id let everybody know what i found.

What year is your Rhino and how many miles on it?

Mine is a 2005. The other engine IM working on is a 2004. It kinda just granaded the middle gear.
