| I was up at pinnacle creek over the 4th of july , cut over to wagon wheel and ran into some people who just got hammered with fines. they had gotten on the HM trails. The Ranger told them that they were going to also start fining people riding at wagon wheel that had HM trail permits. Has anyone else heard anything like this... That would suck........ | |

| Now if you have a permit and not on the system they could not fine you , but they can fine you for exiting the system or entering the system by trail that is not a marked entrance ( once on the system you are supposed to stay on the system and return to a trailhead ) ... | |

| IDK how they could fine you at Wagon Wheel for having a HFM pass and being there.... they would need jurisdiction on all trails and roads everywhere.
Here is the rules off their website.
All trail users must have a valid Hatfield-McCoy Trail Permit. The user permit is to be affixed to the left side of user's helmet below the goggle line at all times. Users who wish to transfer permit to another helmet may do so in person at our administrative office Rt. 10 South, Rich Creek Road, Lyburn WV, 25632. Everyone must wear a DOT, SNELL or other approved helmet and protective eyegear. No passengers on any ATV unless the ATV is manufactured for the driver and a passenger. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed or carried. No firearms. Obey all signs, gates, and barriers. Stay on marked trails. Only enter and exit the trail systems at a trailhead, community or other approved connectors. Do not enter a "no trail," "no entry" or gated area. Drive or ride at a speed reasonable for conditions. No person shall drive an ATV/UTV unless that person meets the minimum age recommendation specified by the ATV/UTV manufacturer for the ATV/UTV that is being driven. Stop when signaled by a ranger. Carry photo identification at all times. Adult supervision is required for those under age 18. Do not litter. No fires. No camping on the trails. Trail system is open from sunrise to sunset Also
Every person visiting the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System, including passengers, is required to purchase an individual User Permit. This Permit allows you to ride, in accordance with our rules, on more than 500 miles of private land that make up our six trails: Bearwallow, Buffalo Mountain, Indian Ridge, Little Coal, Pinnacle Creek, and Rockhouse. User Permits must be displayed at all times while on the trails.

| The guy I talked to was one of those that got fined, he got $500 worth of fines to be exact. If they try to push it I figure it will be something about leaving HM trail system. entering where it says not to. Thing is how would they know if you started on hm trails and went to outlaw or if where on outlaw the entire time. | |

| They are gonna fool around and piss people off. They better stick to hitting people with fines for riding H&M without permits and let it go at that. If they act like jerks, most people in wv will quit buying permits. It sounds like they are getting to greedy, and I think it will bite them in the azz. I got the solution to this problem: If you know the trails, know your driving abillitys, and what your machine can do.........FLIP EM OFF AND DON'T STOP! I like the H&M trails, and I ride them when I get a chance. But, they have no business telling me I can't ride trails that are not part of their system. I will stop if I feel I'm doing them wrong, but it they try to fine me for leaving H&M on another trail, then they better be ready to drive, and wreck their $hit trying to catch me. | |

| Thanks for the info...I would get caught for sure...I only do 20mph on the trails and 35mph on the haul roads....Maybe it will be dusty that day and someone will fly by me and the ranger won't notice me.... | |

| I hear if you show up to court the judge throws out the ticket and does not back the H/M around the Wagon Wheel area from what I have been told. They better leave people alone because that's a good way for people to quit coming to these areas and spend their hard earned money. | |
