What are your preferred accessories?

Storage : Polaris Lock n Ride that takes up half the bed? I havent' seen anything else available.

I'm thinking it will need the fender flare extenders I saw a lot of the RZR's running this weekend. Some were a template using a tough sheet plastic or an altered mud flap. Some were store bought.

Doors: ? Same doors fit the regular RZR?

I'm guessing most of the stuff that fits the regular RZR fits the 900 XP, but what are other areas where the accsessories don't cross over?

I noticed these RZR's really get muddy in comparison to my Rhino. Looks like you need doors, full windshield, fender flare extenders, storage box and bags, rear windshield.....am I missing anything. I learned a lot about them riding in one this weekend. Got to drive a S and an XP on the trails this weekend. Nice machines!

Thanks in advance in helping me process and thin down my list between machines. Trying to compile a total cost between machine and accesories. I know you are never done customizing but just want to cover the main things like keeping the elements at bay. Stereo, HID's, and niceties can come down the road.

Tiger, I haven't had my XP long enough to add all I want, and have been prioritizing my needs as I go. Here is a list of what I have added and why. 1. JBS roof, self explanatory and Jim's are simply the best I have found anywhere. 2. EMP rear glass, stops mud from hitting you in the back of the neck and exhaust fumes out, I got mine from Rick at EMP during the fall ride it was for an S and I had to do a few minor mods to get it to fit. 3. Kenwood TK-880 UHF radio, invaluable when riding in groups. 4. Already had a Garmin 376C GPS, a good GPS is almost a must especially when riding new, strange places. 5. EMP front tilt out windshield, I just put it on last week (Santa) and have only rode with it one time, we where in heavy mud and it helped tremendous, this one opens at the bottom so you can still get some air but it is not a requirement. Next on my list is a winch, I am looking at the Viper 5000lb with synthetic rope, not only is it good to have to get you out of a jam but I also still have my Warn 72" snow plow from my old Rhino and I need the winch to lift it. Next will be doors, there are several choices available but from what I have seen the Top Dog doors seem to be the best value, however I have some fabricating skills and will most likely be building my own. Later on I'll fab some bumpers, spare tire carrier, overhead console for stereo, and install a heater. As far as flare extensions to each there own, personally I think the stock ones on the XP do a decent job already, The 800 RZR and the S don't have them as stock. My XP was a left over 2011 and came with the ITP tires which are not the best choice in tires, the 2012s come with Big Horns. Alot of folks shy away from the XP because of the width, I have only had a couple of times that the extra width has hurt getting through places, however the extra width has helped me more than hurt on every ride I have been on so far (about 400 miles so far). The extra travel in the suspension lets it walk through deep ruts and off cambers a whole lot easier than most other machines, I wouldn't go back to a narrow machine now if you paid me.

To answer your other question about parts crossing over, the reg RZR parts will fit with the exception of the cargo boxes, the xp is different box. Of course anything underneath is different , skids, a arm covers, etc. , it is a completely different machine underneath. Get the XP, the extra power will most definently give you many smiles per mile.

Bumpers will be different due to the mounting locations, and as Rick said, anything having to do with the bed and underside of the machine. HIDs, the XP already has them. I believe the doors, windshields, and roofs are the same. I can tell you that you don't have as much mud hitting in the face, arm, and leg from the front tire like the S. That little funny looking mudflap on the xp really makes a difference.

Rick has covered most of the explannation of the XP. Mine is a 2012 with the Big Horn tires. Love it so far & having a blast everytime I get in it. I did purchase the Pure Polaris Storage box for the rear. I tried several other kinds, but this one is the best for now. The aftermarket has not caught up there yet. I used the Pro-Armor doors, front bumper, JBS roof, shoulder bags & roof bag from my RZR S that I had. These things are work in progress & I still want to add more things to mine.

The full doors keep the mud out. I have a full windshield & will be getting a back windshield next. I will say I stay cleaner in the XP than the S due to the extender fender flares on the XP.

I agree with Rick on the width. I have had one instance with an issue, other than that, love the extra stability.

I agree with all your points on the xp. I'm going with the Factory utv doors on my rig.I like the skins and the color match to these. They have good cross braceings in the doors too. They seem to get good reviews from the people I see that have them. I'm getting some Pro-Armor 4 pt. harnesses too. The one thing I don't like is the very aggressive engine braking. I had an instance yesterday on an outing where the rear wheels locked up in the slick stuff I was in when I was getting out of the throttle.I'm going to change the clutch helix and springs to alleviate some of that problem. The clutching on these things is jerky on take-off too. I'm going to get the rear raised radius rods from superatv.com too. They are only 125.00 shipped with the discounts. They are a problem waiting to happen if your riding in rough rocky areas. They will bend pretty easily by the looks of how they are made. They are the lowest point on the bottom of it. I don't like the ITP tires either. I want beadlocks but that will have to come later on.

That seems to go along with everything I learned this weekend and items I already have. I rode in Neuromax's new S this weekend and it was great. I also got to drive a XP and it was unbelievable! Anyway Neuro has the Top Dog or Big Dog doors (something dog) that worked well along with the JBS roof, EMP tilting front windshield and rear glass. I already have the Kenwood radio and I also have basically the same GPS except mine is the gpsmap 478. He also had the XP flares on the front of his however did not yet have the extended flares for the rear.

Good info as yours seems to verify what I already thought I knew.

I think storage is still my biggest concern since the cooter brown rear bed cover doesn't fit the XP and to my knowledge EMP doesn't have any other storage options yet. Seems like the Popo box is the best option for the time being.

Thank you for the info!

Ok, good to know about there being less mud. Thanks Hump. My test drive was at night but I did take it on a short trail ride. I didn't even have my helmet or other riding gear on and I came back pretty clean although it was a short drive. This one did have roof, windshield, rear shield and doors.

I may just plan on those items and wait and see if it needs the rear flare extensions.

Right now my pick is the pooplaris storage box. I just havent found any others that work well with it.

Yeah, not worried about the width at all although I could tell it was a wide load. My Rhino currently sits at 63" with 1.5" spacers on each corner and offset wheels. I have to back up at some switchbacks with it already although not many. What does worry me a bit is I am considering waiting on the XP4.....the length of the 4 coupled with the XP width worries me a little on the trails. We rode with a 4 all weekend and he did pretty good on the tight switchbacks but it was a little hairy in a couple of places. That was stock width RZR4. Not sure how bad the XP4 would be on some of those switchbacks. Trying to gauge my wife's participation level. She used to ride with me often but hasn't since my son's arrival 3.5 years ago. I know he will want to go a lot in the near future and she may want to come also if he does. That is my biggest question because I LOVED the suspension of the XP...going to be hard for me to get a regular RZR4 although I got to drive that this weekend also and I liked it. I just thought it could stand a little extra power although it was certainly still very acceptable....way better than what I've got currently.

I can see where you are coming from on the engine braking, it's just nice to see a Polaris with very good engine braking. I liked it and didn't have a problem with it but I can still see where you are coming from. I also agree with the radius arms, I had forgotten about those. That was the first negative thing I had read about the XP's. I might would wait to see if I bent one before upgrading though. I would think you could straighten it out enough to make it home if you bent it on the trails. Good points though!

Spending an extra $700 on a bench seat for the XP would be alot less than the extra few thousand for the RZR 4 XP. I am thinking about doing the same thing with an S. I want a rzr S real bad, but I have a wife and a 6 yr old that love to go too. There is no way I can go for a 4. May even scale down to the new 570. That's all I really need for my riding. Check them out.

RZR4 we rode with this weekend did fine. Now the XP4, I reckon no one knows yet how it will do on the trails. Might be a bohemoth. Course the 900 might throttle steer pretty good....

Anyone use the Polaris Doors? Sounds like they are pretty new. They look fine, but are not offered powdercoated, only mill finished aluminum. Looking at a package deal with the dealer so considering these.

Thanks, Matt

Thanks Drew, good point. I think the dealer may have said they are polished but still, they don't look great in pictures but are supposedly very functional.

That's a good point drew! I was looking at add ons for my rzr and was looking at a bunch of alum accessories. I may change and look at factory utv items. Rocker panels and a arm guards are made of the plastic

How much longer is the XP4 vs the rzr4? I think if the XP4 is to much longer, that will hurt you more than the extra 3.5" width. But maybe the XP will turn a little sharper to make up for it.

I got an idea. Take some beer cans to the dealership and set up a course with them kinda like cones to drive though. Drive both and see how much difference there really is.

What do ya think Bubba? 900 XP Owners? 174417 to me!

The XP4 is 4" longer but the wheelbase length is the same as the RZR4. I looked that up this past weekend because I was curious as well. Beer can test would be a good one, plus you could have a good time on the test drive! lol!

First time I've seen a picture of them. Look pretty good too!
