| Ray,
Just drop the skid plate then you will see. When I was researching the RZR prop shaft. The RZR and RZR S have a part number for the whole prop shaft. I found that the RZR 4 had a part number for just the yoke. If this will work the yoke and maybe a U joint is all you would need.
I just did some checking.....The 08 and 09 just list the whole prop shaft. 2010 models have a part number for the yoke......

| That pin in the front yoke was a pain to get out on mine. It was also a chore to fish that driveshaft out of the rzr. Very tight. I had to remove the 4 bolts that hold the front diff, and slide it forward on mine in order to get it out. The rear was stuck pretty good, so I had to take a hammer to it. I said bad words, and had a few beers. Will be easy next time, now I know what to expect. Hope yours comes out easy. | |

| Been having a rattle for the past three rides, 2010 standard rzr. I think I finally found it. The drive shaft had lots of play in it. I could make it rattle by shakeing it. Sprayed the yokes with WD 40 and had it out in about a half hour thanks to Big G's directions.. The question is, do I really have to get a new driveshaft as per Big G or can I go to a local driveshaft shop and have the universal joints replaced, they are loose. Or is it that the yoke splines are wore down. I can't tell about the splines because I have nothing to compare it to. They look a little low. Shipped to my house from Don Woods Polaris is $271.00 total.. | |

| Hey Groundhog, I also thought I had a bad Ujoint on the front of the driveshaft. After I got the shaft off I had no play in the ujoint. My slop was coming from the splines. The output shaft on the front diff and the splines on the shaft were both worn off. To fix you have to replace the part in the front differential and the drive shaft. OR you can do like I did. I drilled and tapped the yoke and used 2 grade 8 bolts to tighten the yoke on the output shaft. Filled the splines with red loctite and used a grade 8 bolt in place of the roll pin. Have about 400 miles on this fix and it is as tight as can be. If I ever need to remove it I will have to use a torch to release the loctite. I will upload a few pics in a minute. | |

| That is a serious fix. My U joints have slop and I think the splines are wore down. I'm leaning toward ordering the part. Need to replace the u joints anyway. Aggravating because I don't use the four wheel drive that much. I will take a closer look at the splines on the front diff. out put shaft. The back also. Thanks for the info.. | |

For what it's worth my '08 has replaceable u-joints(I can see kymedic's are not). A bent prop shaft on mine ruined the front u-joint w/o ruining the spline. I have the automotive equivalent if you need the number.

| Mine is junk again already. Splines in both yokes wore out and rattling. I'm not putting more money in that stuff til the front wheels quit pulling, or the shaft flies completely out. They need a whole new redesigned shaft for these things. It sucks to have to replace junk with more expensive junk. | |

How long have you run yours after your fix? Do the bolts you are using as set screws stay tight?

| When I get the new shaft, if it is still loose after the install, then I will pull it back out and do what Kymedic did. | |

| Will those bolts cause the shaft to be off balance and vibrate? |

If they were in the middle of the shaft, maybe, but being at the end or near the support bearing, and the fact that they are tightened down, they shouldn't add any vibration to the machine.
