Windshield wiper.

Got tired of driving around half blind so I'm gonna try this. Don't know if it will work but will see. Bought this manual wiper off ebay for $25.00. Drilled a hole in my windshield and stuck it on there.





Was thinking it wasn't gonna work with all that muddy water, so I brainstormed this up.



This is a fluid transfer pump that you can buy for about $5.00 and some irrigation hose and a 180 degree irrigation spray nozzle on the end. The spray part works good. I had the parts so why not. Cost nothing. The bottle goes in the cup holder, will run the hose tomorrow.





P.S. Should carry this pump as part of your tool kit anyway.. I've had to use mine twice in the woods.

I like the wiper idea , maybe a electric fuel pump or a junk yard windshield washer pump and tank . There is a great place right above the stearing rack for a tank .

Bubba, here is the connection for the wiper. If you look close at the first picture you will see a brass colored bushing about an inch long on the outside of the windshield. I made this up. Mine is aluminum, could be plastic or what ever. The length of this will determine the amount of pressure the blade has on the windshield. I drilled the hole six inches up from the bottom. The hole location is personal prefrence of course. Punder.. Probably any junk car would have the stuff for an electric pump and maybe a wiper motor. I just wanted to keep it cheap and easy.

Cheap, easy, and it should work well. The only thing to worry about is it scratching the windshield. That is a great idea on the washer fluid setup.

This is an EMP polycarbonate windshield. It has been resisting scratches so far. Hopefully this wiper want have any effect on it.

On Friday of the fall ride I was back in the pack and the accordian effect got me a few times. Had to haul ass and the windshield got muddy. Couldn't stop so I tried the wiper. The sprayer and wiper worked fine. A couple of problems. The wiper blade could be bigger, mine is nine inches. With a shoulder harness on I couldn't reach up and operate the handle. So a longer wiper blade would help. Also I will have to rig some kind of extension on the handle so I can reach it.

Polaris sells a electric wiper for around 200 dollars. You could mount switch on shifter or steering wheel, Might be worth a look. Ride Safe BIG HOSS

You could hire a midget for a couple buck to ride along and turn the knob when you need it , but think it would be more fun to strap him to the roof and a rag and bottle of water .
