- Hump...this may be a stupid question but....would it not be about the same amount of money to buy a used 660 or 700 engine and do a swap. Then sell the 450 engine.
I'm sure it has been done....just a thought. You would have a lot more torque and hp....and about the same amount of money spent.
I quit thinkin' now.....it makes my head hurt. I've done some research, and a 660 swap is more involved than just the engine. One motor mount has to be relocated on the frame, and some changes in wiring must be done. Plus, I hate to take a chance on a used engine anyway. Sounds like it would take some time to do it also, and time is something I don't have much of. I can get a cam, cdi, jet kit, air filter, and exhaust tip for less than $600. I'm not expecting 660 power, I just want a little more to hold me for a year or so til I'm ready to buy something else. Plus, I love messing with this stuff. Let me know how much diff the cam makes! I have a dynatech cdi,K/N filter, jet kit,and the exhaust tip. I also have the world famous "JBS 450 SHEAVE". It does ok but on the long hills like going from Ashland to the Skyland...It's a turd!! It has never stopped pulling it's just very slow doing it. I followed RayRay up the stairsteps a month or so back. It made it but don't want to do it again. Are you going to have James do some port work? i got a spring for the secondary for you now

| Yes, he needs that spring. I don't know what the speed is like with no speedometer, but I know I'm holding 1000 more rpms on the long uphill pulls after that blue mystery spring. Keeps it in the very short powerband the 450 has. It's not over agressive, so if I go back to 25" tires, I think it will still work well. | |

| The spring takes a bit of the lag out of it when you get back in the throttle hard. All 15 hp hits the ground about 2 seconds quicker. | |

Hump....your dead on. Just from following Carolina-whino on some of those long steep hills....when his F0-FIDDY drops to a certain rpm it starts to struggle. Keeping the rpm's up would help him a ton. IF HE WOULD LAY OFF ALL THE BEER, CHEESEBURGURS,CHICKIN WINGS,POUND CAKE AND QUIT EATIN' "LITTLE DEBBIE"....THE FO-FIDDY WOULDN'T HAVE TO STRUGGLE AS MUCH. .... CUZZ.
