| I like it but remember to buy the caliber you can afford to shoot and get good at,if you cant afford to shoot it much,,,,well you might as well buy a site, check prices of one ammo caliber versus another | |

| I too like Glocks, But I got a real good deal on a Springfield XD Tactical in 9mm. I'm not a fan of the 9mm, but the pistol really shoots well. The trigger has a lot of "Takeup" but once you get used to it, you can Double Tap withit as well as some customs I've shot. It's for all intents a Glock copy with a grip safety.
Sig Sauer has the P2022 available in all the right calibers. You might want to check it out before you drop the coin. I think it's even a little cheaper in price and you'll be hard pressed to beat Sig's quality.

| I really like my XD-45. Mainly because there is no manual safety. That, and the mag release on both sides was the selling points for me because I am left handed. I must admit that I'm not as good with it as I would like, but I'm sure it's mainly due to not shooting it enough. I don't carry it much due to it being a full size model, so I don't shoot it as much as the .380 and 9mm I carry most of the time. With those two, I am very comfortable, and know exactly what I can do with them. My XD feels better in my hand than any gun I've ever grabbed ahold of.
Tbone, you can't go wrong buying that one. I do think .45 is the way to go, but not for a 1st handgun, and definately not for someone to carry if they don't shoot it alot. You should be good to go with the .40.

| I really liked the Springfields when I was looking to purchase. The guns felt better than any others when I picked it up. I started really paying attention though, and the M&P was aimed dead on when I picked it up, whereas the Springfields were never in the 10-ring. I went w/ the M&Pc and couldn't be happier. I absolutely LOVE this pistol! | |

| I have a M&P .40 S&W that has turned into my favorite gun period. It's the only .40 that doesn't really snap in your hand. I pretty much carry it everywhere now. It is the compact.

| Well, whatever you get, just practice, practice, and practice. You cannot be too familiar with what you're staking your life on. | |

I agree. I am buying guns but not really anxious on shooting yet. I want to get a real good education on how to take them apart, clean them, operate them, and also everything on safety before I go at it. I just think its best for me to fully understand them before I start using them. I also fully respect them. |

In the meantime, buy some snap caps so you can practice at home with trigger control, target acquisition, jams, reloading, etc. This is something I need to spend a lot more time w/ as well, but is a great starting point if you are in the process of really learning the ins and outs of pistols.

Thanks for the tip. I will check into that. Since I am a family man now and have a new daughter I want to make sure I can protect my house and family. I might as well get me a stock of guns. My ol buddy Hump told me a few months ago that you can never have too many guns! |

My ol buddy Hump told me a few months ago that you can never have too many guns! That's right. Nothing you have is worth having if you don't have a way to protect it. Plus, guns hold value better than any sxs or truck, so if you don't like it, you can sell it and move on. As for learning about how they work, and how to care for them, once you strip down that AR over and over a few times, and do the same to a nice pistol, it will be easy and you will understand more about how they work and feel more comfortable with them. You will also find that the whole "it could just go off" that the far left wants everyone to believe is total BS. I bet when you grab up that AR you get a feeling of freedom and security that you have never felt before.
