| Hey folks,,talked to Dave (manager) at Ashland when making reservations for spring ride,, and ask about the thieving going on and they are looking at remarks on this sight and now have 24-7 security and checking on gates with pass keys to enter, seems very upset with what happened, said everyplace is getting hit down there, so until they or WE catch em,,LOCK YOUR STUFF UP. He told cops they better catch them before one of us does,,,you know the rest of the story if that happens. | |

| Thanks for the update. I have been wondering when Ashland was going to make a comment on the situation. |

| It's been going on for over a year. Seems way too long to me. I was riding with a group last year and started talking to an older local in a bronco. He told us he knew how the stealing was happening. Not a good story since it involved "working" locals telling other "stealing" locals what is available to take.
I really believe Ashland could stop it if they wanted. Those cameras must not work. If they do who got caught??

| Probably 80% of all businesses have cameras, even the ones in small stores 8 feet away, but how many get caught by a camera? It takes the help of people like us to help catch these crooks, and if we do,, I think its up to us to see that they get whats coming to them. since the police does not seem to be concerned,,let it be known that if they are caught by a sxs owner,,,well----GOD help them because I think they will need it!!!!!!!!!!! | |

| I think the police need to make a bait sxs. Put tracking systems hidden all over a sxs and set it out at Ashland. Let someone steal it and track them down. BAM! CAUGHT! |

| My friend made our reservations for thanksgiving weekend and they put us in the same cabin we were in for the fall ride right at the top of the hill. I called to switch and told the lady I didn't want that cabin due to the recent thefts. She got pretty upset when I said that and told me they have security now and that the most recent machines that were stolen had the keys left in them. She made the same point of having 20k invested in something would make someone very conscious about keeping it safe. I'm glad they are trying to improve and prevent more thefts! By the way rampage I put those race driven pads on the xp and am totally satisfied with them! | |

| Five friends and I went the weekend after the fall ride. Every site was full. I locked my stuff up and while we were sleeping every few mins the ashland truck would come riding through. The lights would shine in when he made his rounds. Far as I know nothing got missing. | |

| I think it is a area wide problem, not just ashland. Think about it...if you were a thief, near H&M trails is where you would want to hang out. I guarantee there is a local chop shop in the area, or someone hauling these things out of state to be parted out and put on craigslist, ebay, etc.
Lock it up, make it hard to get any way you can. Buy insurance just to be safe. If you have a good anti-thieft idea, share it only with people you know and trust instead of posting it up on here for the thieves to read.
Looking at the way the campground is layed out, I think the gates are the way to go. One at the bottom of the hill, and one blocking that H&M trail connector.

| The whole idea of the campground is freedom ,I don't want to go back behind the fence again ... Being able to go down the road at 2 am just cause I want to appeals to me , having to carry a card to get in and out , and like now what about when the power goes out . If the machines are being stolen then it was simple to steal , lock your stuff up , chain , cable , big ole locks , if you don't care enough to do simple things then your stuff needs to walk away . | |

That sounds great to be able to have that freedom but the first one that gets stolen will be blamed on not enough security, but they do have a business to run and try to keep everyones property safe to the best of their ability,,what ever the answer is I dont know but Im glad their concerned enough to spend the money to do what it takes ,my hats off to all the sites down there and their staff.

| i'm sure this is an issue anywhere you go around the Hatfield McCoy trail system. chain em up . big chains, big locks. they are going to look for the easy hit. and always have insurance. | |

| Couldn't agree more rampage and jet. Maybe if everyone made a little effort at securing their machine it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Like someone said earlier their looking for the eazy one to grab so make it as hard as the possible for them to get. | |

| I was at Ashland yesterday & into the evening. Security has stepped up. More security is getting added. Not sure about the gates, but sounds lie they will be installed later on. I believe Ashland is trying to make it safer for us.
But, did hear that there was another machine stolen near Hill Billy Hide Away & one in Montcalm Friday/Saturday.
