It's crazy, like a govt secret. I would think if they are part of H/M they would be telling the world. They have updated the site and the passes have gone up $5. I am not paying $65/yr just to ride those trails. I guess I will find out when I go up there. Thanks for the info everyone.

don't get to upset Timmi, I have a buddy who works for Raleigh county assessor office, I mentioned to him about it being taken over by H/M, because use of an existing Radio Controlled Car Tack may go away. he Said he had already heard from the new management about enlarging the existing track, and it wasn't H/M. not to say any of it is wrong. could be transitioning from old management to new management and soon to be operated by H/M....so who knows......

Burning Rock is not being taken over by H/M. It opened back up on March 1st. under new management that is making changes to the trail system. New yearly fee for in-state permits is $40.00.

Well that is strange we are getting two stories I still don't see many people buying a H/M permit & a Burning Rock permit so I think most people will only buy the H/M permit I know I will.Unless your a local that lives near Burning Rock I would not buy one of their permits.

We got a nice family plan from the lady last year, she even suggested it. I am betting they are going to be by the book now. I like the park but not enough to pay more than a H/M price to ride there.

Hi everyone! I'm part of the team at Burning Rock. I'd love to settle some rumors about the park. It's true there have been a lot of changes and we are operating with a new outlook. We are absolutely not part of H/M but we are certainly interested in providing more and better trails for everyone. We hope everyone will come out to the park to talk to us and get a feel for the some of the other exciting changes.

Also, last years permits will be extended 2 months from their expiration date to make up for some of the lost time over the winter. You will still need to stop by the General Store to sign a new waiver the first time you come out.

Thanks so much, look forward to seeing you out there!

Thanks for coming on here and clearing that up. We had just bought our passes last October and then the park closed the next month. Most of us had never been there. We like the location and the trails.

Hi, 09rxr: You can refer to our website regarding permit costs and trail information:

www . burningrockwv . com

We have about 100 miles of trails and the costs vary depending on where you live.

Thanks!

I've stayed up there twice since this new management has been there. It's a lot of new folks working there. No H/M according to them. They did extend the passes but have some new rules that just about drive me nuts. Even though I have a pass, I still have to to stop by the store and get a wrist band now. YOU have to have a wrist band now. You have to be back by dark and check in. If you don't they say they are to send out a search party for you. You have to have a helmet on when unloading your machine off a trailer and even if you are just riding from the truck to the cabin or to the bathrooms. All sxs's, ATV's, and motorcycles.

I love the access of getting in and out of there. It's great for camping in a big camper or big RV. A lot more room than Ashland. It's close to Wal-Mart. Your close to all kinds of outlaw trails. But with these rules (there are a lot more I didn't mention)... I just don't see them making it. I don't see it making it without H/M.

Just my input.

Like I said I have only been there once and doubt I will buy a permit again since I buy a H/M permit and they have more trails and I know hundreds of miles of Outlaw trails to ride.I don't see them making a profit and staying in business without being part of the H/M system.Maybe whoever is behind it has deep pockets and don't need to make any money I don't know.I'm not slamming Burning Rock just giving my opinion I wish them the best new ownership - Page 2 722106

The same here it is closer for me but with all those rules I also will not buy 2 different passes and have to put up with having to go get an arm band and put up with all those rules just to unload it you have to get ready to ride and then turn around and lug all that crap around while you are closing up you truck and trailer. Too much petty BS, hell H/M has too many rules but not that bad!

Those rules make it sound like the Obama admin. is running it. I haven't needed a braclet to ride anything since I was a 11yr old at the county fair. Wearing a helmet to unload just hurts you visibillity when backing off the trailer. Maybe they would like to ride with me and hold my hand....better bring clean shorts. lol!

Maybe Burning rock should read some of the post and take a closer look at our group and the people we all know! hell we could flood them at the spring and fall ride! they would make more off of us in 3 days than they could all year! they dont have the cabins to accomadate us all at one time like ashland does! they could give us a discount pass to wvsxsriders.com group ,in state or out of state should be the same!

I don't have a problem with common rules. But, telling me I need a helmet while I'm on my trailer and in the parking lot is crazy. The braclet thing is kinda stupid also. I don't need someone calling a search and rescue if I decide to hit some outlaw trails and ride off into the night, or cut a tire down just before dark. My Mom called the fire dept once when I wasn't home before dark...I was 15 and hunting behind the house. I'm a big boy now, I can take care of myself.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk. There's just some things that get under my skin.

They won't respond.  It will only be a matter of time before they go belly up or before H/M takes them over/buys them out.  They can't compete with H/M and the outlaw trails.  If they were in a different location, maybe, but they are too close.

Even rich, deep pockets get fed up with bleeding out money eventually...................and by adding more and more rules and restrictions they are just shooting themselves in the foot.
