| I am planning a ride from Mountain Top Cabins to Welch and would like to stick non HM trails to avoid any hassles.
Planned route using BobT Maps: Stairs Bypass Pinnacle Creek Campground Beer Can Alley Tiny's Welch Main Trail Eat at Diner
My concern is around Tiny's it looks like I may intersect a HM trail, is this correct? Just worried about coming around a turn and being stopped by a Ranger.......
Trip Back: Main Welch Trail The View Creek Bypass or Tiny's Upper Wagon Wheel Soggy Bottom Mountain Top
Any advice would be much appreciated. | |

| It is a road so I don't think they are bothering people coming through there anymore. When they first put the connector in there they were hassling people but I have not heard of that in a long time since I figured out someone fought it and they lost. | |

| That is a shared road, so I believe the HMT folks can't give you a hard time about permits, but i maybe wrong. | |

| There was a big stink when that connector first opened with rangers stopping people until they conceded that it was a public road. They gave us a hard time when we went thru there right after it opened 'cause we didn't have passes, helmets and some had beer in their coolers which they admitted but we told them no search without a warrant. That's the only time I have seen a ranger on the trails. | |

| Made it to Welch and back and it took us probably 3 or 4 hours based on stopping on messing around. Trip went well except for bud rolling his atv off the trail in under first mile of weekend..... Luckily he wasn't hurt and bike came out fine too for flipping over about 8 times...... Scared him big time i think.. | |
