electrical problem with 2008 rzr

This past weekend while riding I had an electrical problem that really pissed me off. The only thing i have added to my rzr that sucks off the battery is a winch. well while trying to pull myself out of some mud...the dam thing kept killing the battery. As i was winchiing the battery light would flash on the spedo, the engine died on my twice while winching but it started back up with no problems. i figured that maybe if I reved the engine a little while winching that i wouldnt run into this problem but sure enough...the battery light flashed and it seemed as if the rev limiter kicked in at a real low rpm.

anyone have any ideas on what to do to cure this problem? anyone else run into this problem?

what make and size is the winch

Your not alone on this USMCSKI. My battery light is flashing as well. My battery light started flashing & ended up being a bad battery. I put another battery in & have not had it 2 weeks & the same thing. I hope we get some answers back on this.

Shawn, is it happening when you use your winch

sounds like your winch might be shorted/ grounded..possibly full of water? I use my winch often and have never had a problem with the battery light or battery.

shawn I had a motorcycle act like that and it ended up being a bad ground..It fried 2 batteries before I figured it out.

thats what I was thinking too.

have had my to start sometimes and sometimes not.though it was battery but it was ground. they were tight. tuck they off and cleaned them real good. no problems sense. i could hook jumper cables up and it would start. cleaned all the wires that hook up to the battery and to frame. hope it helps it did mine.

I am running the stock battery
it reads 12.75 volts after sitting since yesterday
the power lines from the winch run from the battery to the solenoid to the winch....I may try pulling all the wires off , cleaning them up

The light flash's more when I am running higher RPM's.

I will check my grounds & go from there ---

Just wondering ,It used to be when you bought a winch or any hevy amp puller you put a inline relay in.Would that help yaw on your amp pulls with winch engaged

Last Saturday while riding at the Wagon Wheel, my battery light & speedo needle would flash while I was running over 4000RPM's. If I stopped or put the bike in park or neutral it would quit.
Ok ---I gave up & took mine to the dealer since it was still under extended warranty.

Dealer found out that the voltage regulator was over charging the battery. Glad I have the warranty to cover it.

thats good warrantey is good thing at times
