The Green Machine

Now that I have my introduction out of the way, this is going to be a thread about my Viking which I am calling The Green Machine (sorry if someone is already using that). Nothing major going on, but I would like to track my progress with pics and if nothing else you guys can either keep me from making mistakes or laugh at me for being a dumb ass! So, I hope everyone enjoys the build, it may be a little slow, but here goes....

In stock form the day I got it in Nov '14

First on my list of things to do was to have the bed sprayed. I had every intention of taking it somewhere and having it sprayed, however, I got the wild idea that I could just do it myself and save some money. So I sanded it down top, bottom and sides and prepped it. Then off to Lowes I went and came home $45 worth of Rustoleum spray in bed liner. Needless to say (cause I know you guys are laughing right now) it didn't work like I thought!!! It actually turned out very nice, just wasn't very thick and I wanted it not just for protection, but for some sound proofing as well. So off to the PROFESSIONAL I went to have it re-done. Lesson #1 learned! haha!

Got it back from the sprayer and I couldn't be any happier!!! I'll post some more pics when I get it all back together

Alright, here is what I picked up yesterday for my switch panel. And yes, the lights are GREEN!

Got the bed back together and back on. I am VERY pleased with how it turned out.

This should keep me busy this weekend!!! Hopefully I can get most of it installed.

Well I was able to sneak away from work a little early and get home in time to get a little bit done before it got dark, First up was the 3" Strongmade lift kit and I started in the back.

Guess I need to make sure Iturn my phone sideways? For some reason it rolls the picks over when I upload them??? Anyway, on to the front....

Pretty easy kit, only took about an hour and 3 beers! And, most important was that it still fits in the garage! And by this point I had figured out why my pics were sideways, sorry about that!

It was starting to get dark so I went for one more easy install, the wind deflector

We have family down spending the weekend so I wasn't really able to work on it very much today and tomorrow is yard work after the company leaves. However I was able to squeeze in a few hours today. First thin I did was install the fender flares. They don't really do much, but I really like the look of them.

After we took the family to eat Mexican food, I was almost too full to work! But I had just enough energy to get the winch mounted. It isn't wired yet, just mounted

What can brown do for you? Well he can show up with enough goodies to keep me busy this weekend! Woo Hooo!!!!!

Got the kick panel speakers installed last night. Perfect fit! Removed the roof for access, cut and pre-drilled some aluminum channel to mount on top of the cage for the overhead stereo support and painted them with spray on bed liner to match the factory cage. If trick-or-treating with the kiddos doesn't take too long tonight, I'll get it mounted and take some pics of the installation.

got the sound proofing kit installed, that's the new wall behind the seats. Makes a huge difference!!! The directions suck, but the kit is nice. I'm going to add some more insulation.

Finished up adding the extra insulation. This made a world of difference when combined with the sound dampening kit. The wife and I took it for a little cruise off in the woods and even she noticed how much better it was and we were actually able to hold a conversation without yelling! I added 2" thick to the back wall and 1/2" thick under the seats. Then I added another layer of 1" under the seats on top of the 1/2" that is loose. I'm definitely NOT an insulator, but I'm VERY happy with how it turned out! When the seats are back in, you can't even tell it's there.

Then it was on to the winch wiring I had been putting off because I HATE WIRING!!!! It actually wasn't that bad. Installed the in/out switch on the left of the steering wheel and the remote plug on the side of the dash.

OK, I have to give credit where it is due. 90% of all my upgrades have came from UTV Headquarters and I must tell you how pleasant they are to work with. Had two small issues with my order (both, not their fault) and they have bent over backwards to make it right. One of them being the light bar mount. One phone call and the mounts will be here tomorrow! Great customer service like this is what keeps people coming back.

FINALLY I got my light bar brackets and they are very nice. Just like UTV Headquarters promised, 2nd day air. Guess I know what I am doing tonight!

Ended up having to work late so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked yesterday. But I did manage to get the light bar mounted and started on the wiring.

You guys are getting the "condensed" version of my build thread. Everything above took me about a month to get done and finally took it to the deer lease for it's first true test with the current mods.

After a long day of riding repairing feed pens and filling feeders, we headed back to camp for food, a fire and some cold beers! Light bars are amazing!!!
