The Green Machine

Damn, been a while since I updated....So right before the spring ride, James installed a new cam

Bike ran great! Friday during the Spring ride I broke a tie rod end. Everybody jumped in and got me patched up temporary and they limped me off the trail until the replacement part arrived.



All was good until about 3 pm on Saturday when an oil sending unit broke off and dumped all my oil ruining my motor

So I drank the rest of the day and dropped The Green Machine off at James' house on my way back to Texas on Sunday

While waiting for James to open her up, I picked up a set of YXZ seats

James decided for me, we (well he is) are building a big bore stroker! 777

While he was doing that, I was ordering parts!

New Rhino Axles

...and a new heavy duty triple pass TCP radiator

and so the tear down began.....

In the meantime, I picked up a new cooler and had it painted to match the green machine

all the parts came in and James started on the assembly

So James offered to let me come up and help so I jumped at the chance and flew up there last week. James finished the motor assembly and we set in the bike Thursday night.

While he was assembling, I changed the radiator out.

Then is was time for some grub and James worked his magic on the grill. Thanks for the awesome dinner!!!!

The next day, Timmy showed up to help and we got the lower arms swapped out and the new axles installed

Since everyone is breaking tie rods on the lifted Vikings, I bought a set of Weller tie rods for the YXZ.They  were way too long, the shaft on the rod end was totally wrong and with the suspension at full droop, it was still going to bind. But, after some bad ass machine work, they are done. Cut the rods down and made new ends to raise the heim joints. Thank you Matt for your mad machining skills!!

And once again, dinner was awesome! Thanks James and Nikki!!!

Finished up everything mid day on Saturday and took it for a test ride. Egine did great but broke an axle. Who said you can't mud in a YXZ??? Not James, here is the carnage....

Almost forgot, Scott showed up and went riding with us too!

Sunday came and we washed the bikes, unfortunately it was time to head back home. See you guys at the fall ride!!

what a weekend, 15 hour days in the garage, good ride, amazing food, and awesome friends!

Well I decided to make a change. I've been kicking around the idea of getting a better tire for the trails and I finally pulled the trigger on a set of 8 ply 30" MotoClaws. I'll keep the Outback Max for hunting and the Texas mud. The Outbacks are 48.2lbs and the MotoClaws are 40.2 so that will trim 8lbs off of each corner of the bike. Add to that the 1/2 gallon of slime in each of the Outback tires, probably 10lbs a tire in weight savings. This should free the bike up a little bit on the trails and make it a little more responsive and fun to drive instead of fighting them heavy bastards through the trees. Also got a set of MSA beadlocks with the tires. Not exactly the beadlock wheels I really want, but these will work for now.

Sent the rings off to powder, I don't know why he sprayed them green?? LOL!
