| With 2 meter you can do it all, Talk 50 miles+ simplex then get on a repeater and talk state to state, make a phone patch and call home. freq for Ham are 144-148 | |

| So by 2 meters are you referring to the wave length of the radio wave? | |

| Are the frequency's listed above still good. Is this what we are using? I might have run across some hand held radio's that can be programmed. | |

| So I need to find a radio that will accept frequencies in the 462-467 MHz range? Do the radios get used enough so they are worth having? |

| According to who you ride with and who's got them. Last ride I was on we used them constantly because some folks weren't waiting at the intersections. Fall ride will see a lot of use. | |

| I think I am going to have to take a wait and see approach on this one. She wants an intercom and we wear helmets so the most logical intercom is from Rugged Ridge. A UHF radio with an external speaker would not go great with the RR intercom system. The BEST choice is the RR Radio and Intercom combination with helmet mics and speaker but with that you are looking at about $1200.00. I need to see just how much and how I will use the radio before investing that kind of coin! |

| IMO I think everyone should have some type of 2-way for saftey reasons and info or when you and have to turn everyone around, or if you are trying to get up with a group! they really do help! I would'nt ride without one. |

You don't get to talk to your wife enough at home I like playing my music when I ride so don't have much time for conversation | |

| I wouldn't think the cat with windows would be loud enough that you would need an intercom? One of those used uhf mobiles like groundhog suggested will work fine since the people you ride with use them too. My bunch uses cb cause we all had one already and we ride in smaller groups, less than ten, so we don't get spread out as much. The uhf carries signal better than cb or vhf in the woods. | |
