| Subject: How is the RZR XP 900 on WV trails? April 24th 2011, 11:51 am | |
| Hi there RZRDUST: I've been thinking about getting a second SXS and have been reading reviews of both the RZR XP 900 and the Commander 1000. The XP 900 looks awesome, but I have two concerns that maybe you could shed some light on. All of the XP 900 test rides I've seen on videos or read about were based on rides out west on fairly wide trails, and most reviews mention that it takes some effort to steer at low mph's. Does the width of the vehicle pose a problem on some West Virginia trails and is it difficult to maneuver the XP 900 around hairpin turns, etc., when you are going very slow? Many thanks for your comments on this! | |

| I hope this helps you with your choice is sxs. I looked at a can am 1000x and the 900 xp both are great bikes I belive you just need to decide if want to work or play if you want to work better go can am if you want to play and have alot of fungotta go with the 900xp. I have 150 miles on mine and i can say its never gave me a problem being to wide. The only time its kinda hard to steer is when your moving like less than 5mph maybe not even that. but with its power just goose the gas and the ass of the bike comes around. I love the bike and dont regret in anyway of getting it. But there is a weak point the axles if you jump it alot and stay in the gas when you land you will bend axles I have not had this problem but I know a few that have outside that its great. If you have anymore ? feel free to ask. | |

| Thanks RZRDUST! I appreciate the reply and the info. I have enough work machines already - I'm interested in play! Glad to hear that the width hasn't been an issue. Have fun!! | |

My Rhino will smoke an XP to 30mph........ From what I seen Saturday...your RHINY-RO better be pretty dang quick to outrun an XP...bottom end...mid range... and top speed. I was really impressed with the XP on the ride.I got behind one for part of the ride and it did awsome. | |

| Subject: Why is a Can Am Coomander Better than an XP 900? April 25th 2011, 11:15 pm | |
| I am new to the Forum, but not all that new to SXS's. I bought a 2009 Teryx Sport in 2009 and it was the most fun-for-the-buck purchase I've ever made. I'd probably say the same thing now if I'd bought the 50" RZR, or a Rhino, or anything else because SXS's are just plain fun. At the time, the Commander 1000's weren't around and neither were the XP 900's. Now I'm looking to keep the Teryx and get a second SXS so that my whole family can ride together (there's four of us; two people in each vehicle) without being limited to going only to trails where a second SXS can be readily rented. So now I have to decide what that second SXS will be. I discovered the existence of the the Commander 1000 first, and was initially convinced THAT would be my next machine. Soon thereafter, however, I discovered the existence of the XP 900, and now I'm leaning towards it. Why (I ask, rhetorically)? I have enough "utility" vehicles (I mean like a farm tractor and a dumping trailer, for crying out loud, when I need that much "utility") and I am attracted to the fact that Polaris is eschewing any pretense that the XP 900 has any utility - they've seemingly made an out-and-out off-road sports car with the XP 900. I've watched the Can Am-produced videos comparing the Commander to the XP, and the Polaris-produced videos comparing the XP to the Commander. IMHO, so far in this propaganda war Polaris is making the stronger case to a potential buyer who cares a lot about sport and not a wit about utility. However, I haven't purchased either one yet, so I have no axe to grind or dog in the fight, and I am open to (in fact, I am actively soliciting) reasoned* arguments as to why one is better for me than the other. I will further research the reported problems with the XP, and if I conclude it has too many yet-to-be-worked-out bugs I'll take it off my short list - it's way too expensive if I'm just buying heartache (a commodity which, in my experience, can typically be acquired gratis). That having been said: my question to the esteemed and experienced members of this Forum: UNDER THE PREMISE THAT THE XP DOES NOT BREAK STRAIGHT AWAY, CATCH ON FIRE, OR IMMEDIATELY TRANSPORT ME TO AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE (I get the strong feeling that some members of the forum will have a hard time with this starting premise, but I ask you to please temporarily suspend disbelief and address the question as posed), why is the Commander a better choice than the XP 900 for a guy interested in sport and not "utility"? * Truly, no offense intended, because I know it was posted in a mixture of fun and well-earned pride in one's ride, but the fact that someone spent more money souping up an older SXS than either of these new expensive machines costs and now it will take out either up to 30 mph (what happens after 30 mph? No, wait, on second thought, forget I asked) does NOT qualify as a reasoned argument. | |
