| Well here is some advise on what I did.
Now I do give a hard time on the xp but it's all joking. I mean no harm. Just do some research. Do see and drive them both. Sit in both and see how you like them. Look at them both and check for quality level. Write down what you want out of your new side by side. Also consider price as well. I would def consider a reg rzr or a rzr s. Truth be told you cannot use all that power. Only 5 percent of the time you can use all that power. You cannot use it all on the trail. That's why I say look at others besides the xp or commander. Also check recalls. That will tell what's going on. After all that pull the trigger and come join us for a ride! Also have fun!
Get what YOU want and what meets your needs. Your the only one that can answer that. Either way you will come out good and be happy! |

| Tbone is right. I will say this....either one is very expensive, so before I would fork out that kinda dough, I would have to take a all day ride with someone in each machine out on the trail, not the parking lot at the dealership. It's a very big investment to just go out and buy the one you like setting in, or like the looks of. The Commander needs the tie rods replaced if you ride hard, and they will definately need the overheating issue fixed with some sort of shields to keep the mud out of the radiator. As for the bound up front diff in the xp, and the smoke from a blown Commander engine I seen and smelled Sunday, those could be just rare problems from a mistake made at the factory. Those two things are not common problems from what I've seen. However, the smoke from the Commander could be from running to warm for to long. | |

| Agree with Tbone (Nice post man), go out and try them out. Sit in them and see what feels comfortable to you. See what you like and what fits your needs as others have mentioned.
For me I just couldn't spend all the money and get no work out of mine. I have looked at the rzr and the ranger for a while few years, I almost pulled the trigger several times. But I always wanted a mix of both. The commander came out and it fit my needs 100%. If you want the biggest and baddest toy out there you will stay broke unless you have a money tree growing in your yard. (If you do I will take a starter or seeds ).
We all have fun poking at each other and ragging each other about a brand or model. But in the end we all have a good day enjoying our hobby together. Any new machine XP, Commander, the new artic cat will all have their own issues. So if you claim you have a completely trouble free machine, I would challenge you, that you are not driving it hard enough.
You are going to hear ALOT of bad things about each machine. You will not always hear all the good about them. Forums are great, they let others know about issues they are having. Sure there are posts here and there stating how they love this and that, but I am sure someone is going to be more apt to create a post for a problem they had so they can make others aware. Forums are great places to see how others have dealt with potential problems and seek out advice from others with more experience. Or let everyone know how a new product worked on their machine. Just don't think everything you read on any forum will net you the same problem with what ever machine you decide to go with.
I say get what feels right to you. There are a lot of new machines still to be announced this year. The rumor mills are warming up for the next model announcements. Just depends on how long you want to wait and what you are after.
Good luck with making your decision and what ever you end up with. If you have any questions about the Commander will be glad to answer anything I can. If you end up with a box with wooden wheels I will still be glad to help you out in any way I can :)
Oh and one last thing ... If you decide to get a commander, be prepared to be at the back of the line. You will always have everyone elses gear in the back of your machine since they have no room to carry it. (Sorry couldn't resist ) :P | |

| Oh I will add something to this.
Right now there is alot going on in the industry. The XP being the top on power is VERY short lived.
Arctic Cat is def got something coming, Can Am def has something coming, and I think the only thing Polaris is going to do is make a 4 seater XP.
I would go ride each one and if your not in a hurry then wait til June to see whats being rolled out at the show. Everyone will know more then.
I think Arctic Cats new machine will me around 90 to 95 hp and we already know what it looks like. Can Am is rolling out a new machine that is being built to cremate the XP. Its being developed right now and will HOPEFULLY be available in a year from now. 1200cc and is going to be 110 to 125 hp est.
With all that going on it may be worth your wild to wait if your interested in units like that. If your not really interested in that the go see and ride them all. Do some research and buy it. After that post to us you got it and lets go riding! If you need any help them send me a message and I will be glad to help! |

| Subject: Much thanks for good advice! April 26th 2011, 9:22 am | |
| Wow! Thanks Tbone, Ermullis, Yamabeast, and Rainemaker. I really appreciate the very helpful responses to my last post. Don't mean to get all maudlin here, but the fact that you guys took the time to give so much thought to your replies, and extended offers for further help and advice to a total stranger kinda restores my faith in humanity. I appreciate it! And Rainemaker- if I had a money tree I'd gladly send some seeds your way! All good advice - I'll do my best to get as much seat time as I can in each before deciding. I realize that there's a lot of good-natured ribbing going on, teasing each other about your machines (I'm sure I'll be doing the same after I know ya'll better), and that every machine has its own set of problems. Tbone - you make a good point about not being able to use all that power on the trail - I rarely even get my Teryx up to full speed (just over 50 mph), and when I do it's almost always on flat pasture land, not the trail. Still, it's cool to have gobs of power in reserve. Going from zero to 30 mph real fast is fun, but from what I can tell the Commander can probably do that just as well as the XP. (And I can't wait to come ride with you guys - can do that with the Teryx even before I buy something else.) Yamabeast - good info on the tie rods and the need for mud shields on the Commander. Knowing the issues that need to be addressed beforehand actually makes me feel more comfortable when considering the Commander. Raimemaker - thanks for all the thoughtful advice and your offer to entertain further questions about the Commander. I actually will take you up on that now. In the Polaris-made comparison video, the Commander bucked a lot in the whoops. Now maybe Polaris just happened to find the perfect set - the set a Commander would look the worst on. My question for you is what is your experience in whoops, bumps, dips, etc. with the Commander? How is the ride and handling, generally? Also, any info on the yet-to-be-announced new models would be of great interest to me (is there another thread I should be monitoring for that? I imagine that sort of thing could be in just about any of them). Anyway, thanks again to all of you for your help. You have been very generous with your time and I don't want to wear out my welcome :) As you guys say, at the end of the day I just have to do the research and nobody can make the decision but me. | |

| Tbone - I hadn't seen your most recent post when I posted my most recent post (whoa - is that confusing or what?). Anyway, thanks for the scuttlebutt on what may be coming to market. And yes, I can wait until June. Very helpful!! | |
