Voltage Regulator Issues

Last week in WV I had the blinking Battery pic blinking on my 09 RZR. Every time we put the pins of a volt meter on it we got sparks to flying. After checking with the pod and meter it showed 12.1 @ idle up to 17.8 @ 4000 rpm's. It seemed to run fine the rest of the week but I babied it and ran it sparingly only to a swimming hole down on Pinnacle Creek to cool off each day. In doing so I ran all 3 Led lites and head lites and amp for the MP3 player and play the amp for 3 to 4 hours at a time to drain the battery some each day. Does anybody have any ideas of what it can be if not the Voltage Regulator over charging the system. Any ideas or things to check would be appreciated!

I had one go out and had to get a new one. Not much u can do for the broken one. Just gotta replace it.

Tbone was yours overcharging like that also or doing something different? I dont mind replacing it if thats whats wrong, just wanting to check with other that might of had the same problems before ordering parts I dont need.

Mine was overcharging too. I got me a new one from world class and plugged it in. Solved my problem. Im pretty sure that will fix yours buddy!
